Hi,
We have two rabbitmq nodes in a cluster and is been deployed in a linux machine. We noticed the dashboard and it was was showing, one of the node as "Node not running". When I checked the status of both the node, it said it was running and I was seeing continuous output in the rabbitmq logs on both the nodes...
After restarting the "failed node", the problem went away.. I am just wondering what would have caused the problem as all the logs are clean...

Appreciate your reponse in advance.

thanks.

If the nodes lose network connectivity between them then they will each
consider the other down. That sounds like what has happened. Are there
messages in the logs about nodes being down?

Hi SImon,
   Thanks for your input.
We have nagios monitoring to check the aliveness of the app.. Earlier when one of the node goes down, we received alerts from nagios. But during this sceanorio, we didn't receive any notification, but when someone looked at the dasboard for something else, the issue was reported.
I checked the application status and found pid and logs also continuously producing output..  the general rab...@rabbitmq-xx.log didn't have any info about node being down. Both the nodes are in the same network.

thanks,

I have seen the dashboard reporting "Node not running"/not showing in 2 scenarios , even when the cluster or service looks to be running.
1. the port 5672 is not enabled( when you list the services and the ports, you wont see 5672 on the list) a lot of time, service seems to be running
2. the management plugin failed to enable for some reason. I have seen its just work, when i re enabled the plugin ---> in this base you will not see the node on the dashboard/management page.

my 0.02 cents.
