Hello RabbitMQ Community,

I hope you’re doing well.

My name is Udit Rawat, and I’m reaching out to express my interest in becoming an active contributor to RabbitMQ. I’ve been exploring the project and its ecosystem, and I’m really impressed by the design, reliability, and the vibrant community around it.

I would love to start contributing—whether that’s through documentation improvements, bug fixes, testing, or eventually working on features. I’m currently familiar with Java, messaging queues, and monitoring tools etc., and I’m eager to deepen my understanding while helping the project grow.

I’d appreciate any guidance on how to get started, such as:

  • Recommended beginner-friendly issues
  • Contribution guidelines or best practices
  • Areas where help is most needed right now

Looking forward to learning from and contributing to this community.

Thank you for your time!

Best regards,

Udit Rawat

Hi Udit,

Team RabbitMQ appreciates interest in contributions, but does not have the time to tutor potential contributors. The fact that you ask about "contribution guidelines" suggests that you haven't taken the time to look at the RabbitMQ source code repository, where a CONTRIBUTING.md is at the top-level of the repo:

Hi Luke,

Thank you for your response—I appreciate the clarification. I’ve gone through the CONTRIBUTING.md and started exploring the repository more closely.

I realize my earlier question was too broad. I’m currently trying to identify a good entry point and was wondering if focusing on documentation improvements, test coverage, or a specific component would be a better way to begin.

If there’s a particular area where contributions are generally more approachable for new contributors, I’d be grateful for a pointer. Otherwise, I’ll continue exploring the codebase and open issues to find something suitable.

Thanks again for your time.

Best regards,
Udit
