hostname_not_allowed exception when attempting to enable rabbitmq_management plugin

I have installed RabbitMQ (3.7.14) and Erlang (Win64_21.3) on a new Windows Server 2016 Datacenter server. I used thelatest windows installers for both Erlang and RabbitMQ. RabbitMQ appears to be starting correctly (at least in the windows local service add-in).

When I attempt load the management plug-in, "rabbitmq-plugins enable rabbitmq_management", the following error is displayed:

*** (MatchError) no match of right hand side value: {:error, {:node_name, :hostname_not_allowed}}

I wonder which of those steps affected the node name computed :/
