No loggning during crashes

We have servers that are crashing quite often, but it's very hard to diagnose why because neither the normal log, sasl log or syslog reports anything! The only way we see that it has been a crash is trough apport.log. Is there any way for us to track down these issues better?

And what is in apport.log? Also, syslog?

My question was what is in the file, and /var/log/syslog.

Ah, sorry, actually it was stuff in the syslog, but it's not always, maybe every 5th of the there's a crash: https://gist.github.com/carlhoerberg/20e99a9fbaca3d99d673

The stack trace suggest it may be OpenSSL (crypto Erlang module) induced.

Can you try 17.1 and the most recent OpenSSL patch release ?
