Error installing rabbitmq-server via MacPorts on OS Mavericks

Hi, all.

I'm equally new to both RabbitMQ and MacPorts.

Anyway, the Subject Says It All.

This is the error I'm getting.

Your machine can't route traffic to garr.dl.sourceforge.net.
It may be a [likely temporary]  SourceForge or your network configuration issue.

Either way, I really recommend using Homebrew instead of MacPorts.

As the message says:

So for some reason "expat" can't be installed. 

Is there a reason why you don't use homebrew?

FWIW, I discovered that when I click on all the sourceforge.net links in my original post, I get rerouted to a new sourceforge.net directory.

Not knowing anything about how MacPorts "ports" files are written, is it possible that they are pointing to an old directory structure or something?

Also, as for MacPorts, it's what was suggested to me (in a non-dogmatic way) for doing package management stuff on a Mac.

Is it a clunker and should I be looking into Homebrew instead?

(But it still probably behoove the Rabbit people to look at their MacPort install link...)

Yes, MacPorts are not actively used these days, so it can be out of date.

Homebrew is what 95+% of developers I know use on OS X. It has a *very* active
community.

We do not maintain the MacPorts port. We do try to keep Homebrew's RabbitMQ
formula up-to-date, though it also wasn't developed by us.
