Rabbitmq wont run in VS Code

I am trying to run rabbitmq in VS Code to complete an assignment. I have downloaded it and I am able to open the rabbitmq manager. however, when I try to run it in VS code, it states that rabbitmq is not installed. I have asked friends and the professor, and they are stumped. Please help.

What do you mean 'run rabbitmq in VS Code'? VS code is an IDE. 
Do you mean you want to run rabbitmqctl commands through a bash/wsl/powershell terminal in VS code?
What are you actually trying to do? What platform are you using? How have you installed rabbit?
