We are seeing a lot of identical errors to the one attached.

Like in the earlier thread, channel processes fail to shut down in under 5 seconds. This is not
necessarily an indication of an issue. Previously there was no timeout at all.

You can configure rabbit.channel_operation_timeout to 20000 (20s) and see if it helps.
I will bump the timeout to 15s by default for 3.6.2 .

John,

Two issues in this area are fixed. They are pretty much harmless noise:

Thank you for reporting it!

Michael,

I know this issue is closed in new version, but I was wondering if there's a way to update this timeout hot.

I've tried:

rabbitmqctl eval 'rabbit,[{channel_operation_timeout,15000}].'

but that does not seem to do anything:

rabbitmqctl environment | grep channel_operation
      {channel_operation_timeout,5000},

Just curious if I'm doing something obviously wrong.

rabbit,[{channel_operation_timeout,15000}] returns a data structure and doesn't
do what you intend to do.

You can update configuration at runtime but it will only have effect for new channels
(so, new STOMP connections):

rabbitmqctl eval 'application:set_env(rabbit, channel_operation_timeout, 20000).'
