I am now trying to install RabbitMQ (3.6.8) on RHEL as per error and specification its required erlange >= R16B-03

I am searching for that package, but I am not able to find such package, how to go further with this?

Thanks

Hi,

You may need to look in EPEL for more up-to-date erlang packages depending on your version of RHEL. There are a few different options described in the 'Install Erlang' section here: https://www.rabbitmq.com/install-rpm.html

Cheers

Which RHEL version are you on?

You haven't provided any errors, your CentOS version or what package you used (RabbitMQ alone
has two RPMs for CentOS 6 and 7). We cannot recommend much with this much information.

Here is details
OS: Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 7.3 (Maipo)
Installed Erlang from: wget http://packages.erlang-solutions.com/erlang-solutions-1.0-1.noarch.rpm
RabbitMQ: 3.6.8 from wget https://www.rabbitmq.com/releases/rabbitmq-server/v3.6.8/rabbitmq-server-3.6.8-1.el6.noarch.rpm

on RabbintMQ setup, it gives following error

--> Finished Dependency Resolution
Error: Package: rabbitmq-server-3.6.8-1.el6.noarch (/rabbitmq-server-3.6.8-1.el6.noarch)
           Requires: erlang >= R16B-03
 You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem
 You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest

I tried skip-broken but same error

Then I setup Erlang 17 from http://erlang.org/download/otp_src_17.0.tar.gz

still RabbitMQ setup gives same error.

Let me know if you need any other specific details.

thanks
Imran

Please read the RPM installation guide carefully: http://www.rabbitmq.com/install-rpm.html.

If you use the package from ESL (typically there is no reason to do that over our own zero dependency RPM),
you need to also install the shim esl-erlang-compat RPM. From the docs:

> Install monolithic Erlang from Erlang Solutions
>
> Download and install the appropriate esl-erlang RPM from Erlang Solutions.
> Download and install the esl-erlang-compat RPM (direct download) produced by Jason McIntosh.
