RabbitMQ Syslog Configuration Error

Hi,

I wanted to send rabbitmq logs to syslog server, but rabbitmq sends no log to the syslog server. I edited rabbitmq.conf file as:

log.console = true
log.console.level = debug

log.syslog = true
log.syslog.level = debug
log.syslog.transport = udp
log.syslog.protocol = rfc5424
log.syslog.host = 127.0.0.1
log.syslog.port = 514
log.syslog.identity = rabbitmq
log.syslog.facility = local0

But it is not working at all. I also checked with Wireshark but there is no syslog packet that comes from Rabbitmq server. My Rabbitmq version is 3.9.13. Following discussion (  https://groups.google.com/g/rabbitmq-users/c/a_Jt9DkPVD8/m/AU-JhpHUBAAJ?utm_medium=email&utm_source=footer ) says:

So yes, perhaps you should try 3.8.10+

But i'm facing same error with upper version. What can be the problem? Which logs i can check for?

In addition, 

I'm using it in Docker container and actually there is a different host name instead of "127.0.0.1", it is just for example. 

rabbitmq:3.9.13-management

I started RabbitMQ with your configuration and I can see logs sent as expected (I just ran `nc -u -l 514` to listen on the port and receive them).

Therefore, I'd say there's nothing wrong with the configuration. Probably just a connectivity issue, so the logs don't get to the log server.

Hi Michal,

RabbitMQ can reach host machine with domain name. Not like a connectivity issue. But i found following log in the RabbitMQ server's logs:

Application syslog exited with reason: stopped

I tried 3.12.8-management version, and it works fine.
