Weird msg_store_persistent behaviour

Hi all,

We ran into a werid situation that msg_store_persistent folder was growing with rdp files and eventually went beyond the disk free limit, while management portal showed no queued messages. After pulling pulish traffic off, the disk space is recovering. The msg_store folder has one running queue with lazy policy. 

What's the lifecyle of msg_store_persistent files?

How can we remove rdp files explicitly?
