Hi,

We have an RMQ cluster running a high-throughput task queue system. It has hundreds of queues, thousands of connections, and tens of thousands of channels. The management plugin runs on a single node in the cluster, which does not have any queues or anything else running on it. It's running on an r3.8xlarge in EC2.

At peak loads, we get warnings in the management plugin saying it has an event backlog. When the backlog gets big enough, the plugin stops responding to HTTP requests and we have to restart rabbitmq on that node. We've been bumping the stats interval up to combat this, but eventually that'll stop scaling.

In our use-case, the only rates we care about are per-queue, but the vast majority of the load is coming from per-channel/per-connection metrics. An option to disable message rate statistics on channels/connections would be very helpful in our use case.

Is this a feature we're likely to see in the future?

Adam
