hi everyone and bunnies too!
just thought i would let you all know that Thumper goes in for her
neutering "snip" on tuesday, 23rd sept.
our vet thinks she is at the right age now (a little under 6 months).
she has been a real handful lately..not just pee-peeing in places she
shouldnt, but also "pestering" dinky,if you know what i mean!.
i'm hoping like dinky, she will calm down once her snip has been
done..which brings me to a question: how long after the snip does the
pre-snip hormones stay in a bunnies' system?

im dreading taking thumpy to the vets..i hate going to the vets more
than any pet does! :( even when its for a routine op like a snip.

keep us both in your thoughts, bunbuds!

love and bunnyhugz!...xxxxxxxx.

It's really worrying leading up to the op but everybunny will be so
much better once it's done. I know that doesn't help you much now so
sending cyber hugs to calm you.

It does take a while - probably about a month - for the hormones to
settle but you should notice her behaviour calming quite considerably
within a week. And of course she'll feel a bit uncomfortable and woozy
immediately after the op anyway, so may be less inclined to demand her
marital rights for a little while. Do make sure the vet gives her a
Metacam injection while she's there to ease any pain she might feel.
It ought to last for about 24 - 36 hrs, after which you may need to
give oral Metacam for a couple of days. She should also get a Baytril
injection as part of the procedure to stave off danger of infection.

I'll be thinking of you all on Tuesday. I hope it all goes without a
single hitch - certain it will!

Hope everything will go well for Thumper on Tuesday.
Do make sure that Thumper has a safe and private space away from Dinky
for a little while she's healing, 'k? I'd keep them separated for a
few weeks until her hormones to decline. :)
Sending you all some good vibes.
