TheHP Driver Packs contain the Microsoft Windows drivers in .INF-based installation format. This INF installation method can be used standalone or with bare-metal operating system deployment tools that require .INF-based drivers. Select 32-bit or 64-bit to see a list of platforms (notebooks and tablets, workstations, and desktops) and the respective driver packs under the operating system.
Upon imaging a Surface Laptop 2 with our basic image from the older Surface laptop model the Surface Hid Mini Driver driver fails to power and thus the keyboard doesn't work. if I revert back to 03/27/2017 driver it works fine... but then the laptop automatically updates itself to the latest version that brakes again. I have blocked the update in WSUS.
Is anybody aware of a fix for the latest driver? Does the PC somehow think its a Surface Laptop 1st gen and somehow downloading the incorrect driver possibly? I also downloaded the latest firmware/driver package from MS and tried that version and it also doesn't work. Seems to be the same exact version that gets downloaded from Windows Update.
@WC_KStil did you ever get the specific version of the driver that works? I keep running into this issue every update cycle. I have a surface laptop 2 and the "Surface Hid Mini Driver" flakes out every update. I've tried the all of the drivers from Download Surface Laptop 2 Drivers and Firmware from Official Microsoft Download Center :
I've tried uninstalling the driver and re-installing but that never seems to work, even disabling the driver and re-enabling doesn't work. I'm not sure what happens in UEFI entry, but that seems to make it work again for me. Beware - your mileage may vary!!! This seems to be a very common issue but different tasks seem to work for different people. I sure hope Microsoft can fix this as it is a pain as it usually happens when I really need to get some work done!
Sign in and select Surface Laptop 2 and input your Surface's serial number. Click on Download and Save it to your desktop. Do not download the Recovery Image directly on the USB drive but on the Downloads folder on the computer.
@GBowlsby - this worked perfectly. Frustratingly, I'd foolishly listened to other ideas with consequences that'll now cost me even more time (somehow our AI/ML needs to intercept bad or half-arse solutions with ones that actually work :)) Regardless to my live 'en learn: Thanks!
Software updates are a vital part of keeping your PC running its best. It's important to periodically check for updates since they are released at different intervals. To make things easier, your Samsung PC allows you to quickly check and apply updates. You can even customize the update options, so they'll only happen at times that are convenient for you.
The Samsung Update app allows you to download and install recommended apps and drivers for your Samsung PC. It is usually preinstalled on Samsung PCs, but you can download it from the Microsoft Store if you don't see it.
In most cases, your model will automatically be detected and the list of apps and drivers will indicate what is or is not up to date. Otherwise, enter your PC's model number in the Search bar, and then choose the appropriate software version, such as Windows 11 or Windows 10 v20H2.
Pause updates: Prevent any updates from automatically installing. On Windows 11, you'll have several time frames to choose from. On Windows 10, the default time frame is 7 days, and you can change the amount by going to Advanced options.
Updating the drivers for your Samsung PC can be done through either Samsung Update or Windows Update. However, getting drivers for any external devices you connect to your PC is also important. Windows Update may offer these drivers as well, but may mark them as optional.
If the external device or component you are connecting happens to also be made by Samsung, such as a monitor, you may find drivers for it from our Download Center. If drivers are not available from the Download Center, then available drivers from Samsung Update and Windows Update can be used, or the drivers built-in to Windows may be sufficient.
Devices or components made by manufacturers other than Samsung may offer drivers directly from their site. See Microsoft's help article for how to install and update drivers for additional information.
It is also possible to install desktop apps that are not found in the Microsoft Store. These apps are maintained by their developers. If you'd like to install or update these apps, you can contact their developer for more information.

This is not yet a referenced CVE (CVE-TBD, PSR-2017-0137) but this feature is present in all the HP laptops and desktop keyboard drivers. According to HP it is only a debug trace purpose that was not removed to the final driver. Ok, perhaps it is true, but it allow to send all the keyboard typed characters to a specific external site.
HP states that we need to be admin to exploit this feature, but it is not completelly true as the flows can be displayed on exit using a capture tool. This still shows that even if it is only a software bug/mistake/error or volontary feature, the need for an outgoing FW like is probably the most important part for an outer protection leaks. Be noticed that the "correction" provided by HP patch will not cover all the affected devices but only the refereced ones listed in HP's support website.
The two other options to choose from in "Software & Updates" is:-Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx-updates(proprietary) ..and-Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx(proprietary)
Activate "Video driver for the AMD graphics accelerators from fglrx(proprietary)" and reboot. It seems that the drivers were not properly activated with the later version, and they wouldn't be activated anyway without a reboot.
