Hi there,

I think this is because you're using NodeJS v0.5 - 

currently I've only attempted R-Node using NodeJS v0.4

If you build/install this version - http://nodejs.org/dist/node-v0.4.11.tar.gz, it may build successfully for you - it does for me.
