Hi,

When I obtain the explained variance incorporating an adjacency matrix to a BYM2 model, I get the explained variance as below,
variance_component   RR01
1      id_year (iid) -0.755
2   id_year2 (Besag)  0.755
3                ID2  0.766
4                ID2  0.234

ID2 is the adjacency  matrix, I think one value for precision and one value for Phi? Can you please explain why I am getting a negative -0.755 for id-year and 0.755 for Besag?
Thanks
Umanga

that sounds not possible. it depends likely on how you computed it
