When using Jzebra applet is not loaded

Greeting !

We are using Jzebra in one of our project for printing purpose . The problem we were getting was the that applets were not loading if we were using higher version of IE or Chrome. Like IE 11 or Chrome more than 45. We tried to update the jzebra with the latest version . But the problem still continues. Can we get any idea on this and as the scope of application is different so we can not go for QZ tray?

And do we need to register the applets over the browser in order to work the application in the modern browsers? If yes then please let us know the process for this .

Hi Girish,

Chrome has recently dropped support for NPAPI, which is needed for Java applets to run in the browser. QZ Tray is the solution for this. QZ Tray is an application that runs on the desktop and uses websockets to communicate with the browser.  QZ Tray works with all modern browsers, including Chrome.  The blocking of NPAPI is the direction browsers are heading in, and therefore QZ Tray is highly recommended.

The API is almost identical between QZ Print (our applet version) and QZ Tray.  Please take a look at this guide to see the new functions that have been added to QZ Tray: https://qz.io/wiki/qz-print-vs-qz-tray

As for IE11, Java applets may still run in the browser.  If you could provide more details (such as any errors or dialogues) on your IE11 issue, I will try to replicate and resolve.

Thanks for this information .

The reason why we do not want to use QZ tray is because QZ tray is an external software to be installed and runned on the client computer. And the goal of our appliaction is to have no software to setup on client computer.

The issue that we are getting using QZ print is that it not detecting the latest JAVA vesion and the error comes during launching is that "Sorry, Java 1.5 or higher was not detected." But for other version of till IE10 the appliaction is working fine . Could you please suggest some way to fix this?

Hi Girish,

Usually IE11 is a 64-bit browser.  Can you make sure that you have the 64-bit version of Java installed (even if the computer is 32-bit)?
