We're running an application that is using the QZ Print Plugin in ie11. Every time the user restarts the application in a new window it prompts the user with "Do you want to run this application?" for the QZ Print Plugin. As we have many users and pcs, we'd like to have this plugin autorun/enabled without prompting the user. Is there anything we can do to enable this? Also, we're running on Windows 7. Thank you.

If you're using the Java Applet, then you must sign the build process with a certificate to prevent this untrusted dialog. We offer a signed certificate with subscription at buy.qz.io, but you may also use your own trusted certificate and build the applet yourself. Where you get your own certificate is entirely up to you. We've found that it is usually less expensive to use our trusted certificate.

If you do purchase a support license through buy.qz.io, your version of the applet will usually last much longer than one year. You will also have access to new QZ-Tray software during that year, in case you decide to switch.

The caveat of using Java Applets now is that most browsers plan to deprecate the support of NPAPI, which will eventually stop all applets from working. Chrome was the first browser to do this, and we have created QZ-Tray to solve this problem. Unlike the Java Applet, QZ-Tray must be installed to each client machine, and the trusted signing process is more involved. We feel it is our best solution moving forward, however, so we will discontinue applet support early in 2017. I hope this satisfies your inquiry. Do not hesitate to contact us at sup...@qz.io regarding Premium support.

Kind regards,

Thank you Lite for your response. I'm not a developer, but just trying to do some support across these machines. When you say you have to "sign the build process", does this mean during the development & compile process? Or can we just go into the Java Config and under Manage Certificates to insert the proper certificate (yours for instance). Thanks so much.

Yeah, we don't have too many people using the legacy applet any longer since the browsers are killing off Java.

If you're using the 1.8 or 1.9 free version, what you're most likely looking for is here.

But I strongly recommend you get a developer in touch with qz and get on a newer version.

To add more context to Lite's response, it was in regards to our new QZ Tray product, so it wouldn't apply to you until after an upgrade (and even then, we'd be working directly with developers to get it integrated).
