I am using the demo to try and find a Zebra barcode scanner. The vendorId is 05E0 and productId 1200. Unfortunately I can't seem to find this under HID devices when I list them. However I tried to list it under USB devices and I see it, but when I try to claim it under the only interface thats available I get the following error:

index.js:1 Error: javax.usb.UsbPlatformException: USB error 3: Unable to claim interface: Access denied (insufficient permissions)

Could you provide the Operating System, Java Version, QZ-Tray version, and model name/number of the barcode scanner?

If the operating system is not in English, please specify the language.

Based on the VID and PID, I found information related to a Zebra LS2208 barcode scanner. If this is correct, the ideal setup for communicating with this scanner through QZ-Tray would be "USB HID Keyboard", where the scanner provides input in the same format as a keyboard. The scanner may be connected to a hub between the normal keyboard and the PC, or connected to another USB port connected to the PC, but the PC must allow multiple keyboards for this to work.

The scanner may also be set up to emulate a COM port, which could work with our serial communication function.

Looking forward to your reply.

Windows 10
openjdk version "15.0.1" 2020-10-20
QZ Tray: 2.1.2
Zebra DS22

I know that the device is being used by another piece of software. When the scanner is used, it opens the software that its connected to. I also tried scanning the code to put it in "USB HID Keyboard" and it beeped a few times very quickly, but I'm not quite sure if that did anything. I'm guessing it means it was already in that mode.

We recommend AdoptOpen JDK 11, HotSpot as of this email. We have not tested against OpenJDK 15.

Additionally, if another application has claimed the device, QZ-Tray will likely not be able to claim it.

I can claim my USB keyboard with QZ-Tray using the HID tab from https://demo.qz.io, for example, and then I cannot type until I release it. :)

Will QZ tray at least be able to see it under the list of the devices? Right now it only displays under USB devices and not HID. I will try to change the java version though to see if that helps.

The interface mode can be switched by scanning the appropriate barcode from the Digital Scanner Product Reference guide.

Please see page 99 of the PDF (7-6) for more information. USB Keyboard HID barcode image attached.

Kind regards,
