Upcoming browser changes impacting QZ Tray

The WICG (Web Incubator Community Group) has decided to impose additional restrictions on communications between the browser and local applications (such as QZ Tray) to thwart bad actors and nefarious activity.

They're calling this "Local Network Access" and -- once rolled out -- WILL impact clients running QZ Tray.
  • Chrome and Firefox Beta users may receive a pop-up warning when QZ Tray is connecting.
  • Future versions of Chrome and Firefox will show a pop-up warning to all users upon initial connection.
Although the community has acknowledged our need to white-list this connection attempt, the rollout of this security pop-up has been occurring faster than any attempts to appease better messaging, whitelist and detection of such a setting for the honest and moral software companies like QZ Tray.
