Hello,

I'm trying to use QZ to get weights from a Toledo Balance by serial port.

Before starting to develop my own page, i have used your demo page (demo.qz.io) to try it.

I have opened one serial port (with a balance emulator) and QZ starts to get the weights - so far so good . But later QZ doesn't get the weights anymore.

I need to close the emulator and open it again and QZ (sometimes) starts getting weights. In other cases I need to close both emulator and QZ demo page and start it again.

Does QZ was created to communicate with balances in this way? or it works with prints only? Is it a bug?

Thanks

Antenor

Can you please send a link to the emulator?

Hi Tres

Thank you for your attention.

First, I would like to explain our need. There is an option in our software to register a meat boxes production where it get a weight of product and then printing a label (ZPL). Actually we are integrating our software (Delphi) to Thinfinity Virtual UI (Cybele Software) in order to deploy it on web.

So, we would need to use serial port to get weights from a balance and LPT port to print labels on the web.

Above the links of emulators:

The first link is a program to emulate a virtual serial port (VSPE) and the second is a weight generator that we developed. Sometimes we don’t have one physical balance to use, so we have used this virtual environment.

So, I have tried in this way:
A) Emulator (Weight Generator) —> VSPE (virtual serial port) —> Hyperterminal  (It’s works very well)
B) Emulator (Weight Generator) —> VSPE (virtual serial port) —> QZ  (sometimes it stops a weight capture)

Thank you so much

Antenor

How to Use VSPE:
1) Device > Create
2) Select in “device type” as Conector and “next"
3) Select an virtual serial port and “Finish”

How to use WeightEmulator:
1) Select “Toledo” or “Toledo Prix III”
2) Click “Pesar” button and select a serial virtual port
3) To stop generating, click “Parar” button

Thanks, we will attempt to reproduce.

For the record, we use a serial attached Mettler Toledo scale for our unit and quality control testing for each release, so this works and is supported.  We'll reproduce and see why the emulator is giving you grief and report back.  Thanks for the quick response and link to the emulators.

Lite has replied privately, but his testing confirmed the emulator crashes with QZ Tray.  Since we do not have access to the emulator source code, troubleshooting why this occurs is not possible.

On the other hand, Lite was able to run QZ Tray to physical scale for 7 hours last night with no crashes.

We recommend you take a better look at the emulator source code.  Since this type of emulator is not commonly available on the internet, we would encourage you to create a GitHub project page for it if your company allows this.

Best regards,
