I found this group from your introductory post on LJ's conlang
community. I am intrigued, and would love to be a part of this
project. Conlanging tends to be a solo endeavor for me, but that also
means that no one else gets the change to learn my conlangs. Working
collaboratively to create one I think is wonderful!

Welcome, Eeveelyn, so glad you could join us.

I browsed your journal and I did learn a little Reis. There's not
many examples, does it not have much vocabulary yet, or do I not know
where to look? :) It seems like a pretty language, and I'm looking
forward to seeing how you develop it.

But yes it's a little easier somehow to learn each other's work when
we're making something together. I guess it helps us get over that
paradox of a new language: The value in language is being able to
speak to someone, but a new language starts with only one speaker.
Here we're starting with at least a few people, and an intention to
grow, so there's a sense that the language might have an interior to
it, a large enough space inside that your own thoughts could find a
home there.

I'd encourage you to think about what you could create to deepen
qww'xzx. The most useful projects, IMHO, are ones at new angles.
Language is full of perspectives. In addition to all the aspects of
the language itself, like its sounds and meanings and structure,
there's also other layers: The way we relate to the words, like a
convention for naming people/things, or an idea of what sort of thing
you say in a particular social situation (greeting, parting, making
small talk). Symbology around the language, like a flag or anthem or
a set of colors. Etc... there's surely many more interesting ideas
that haven't occured to me.

I would love for instance to have something like this for qww'xzx:
http://www.terjemar.net/lajathin.php (The Ceremonial Interlace
Alphabet of the conlang Kelen). You can always make a transposition
of the characters into a new medium. Only a limited number can be
popularly known and used, but being the most popular isn't the only
possible goal. Kelen's interlace alphabet is, as I understand it,
supposed to be a little bit mysterious and secretive-- you don't even
notice that it's there unless you know to look. Other reasons for
creating correspondences could be ceremonial, or artistic. One idea
I've had in the past (that anyone's free to steal and realize for
qww'xzx) is an alphabet made of different kinds of flower, which would
make it possible to spell out words in a bouquet. Since qww'xzx is
divided into levels, it's possible there could even be useful
incomplete alphabets that only go up as high as -j or whatever-- since
we've been talking about having -j and -k have some sort of emotional
words, I can see those being worth saying in special ways. That might
be very mysteriously compelling to new learners, to start to learn the
secret alphabets and realize there's emotive messages woven into image
borders & such.

I like your ideas about what meanings we could have on -l, I'll
respond to those separately when I get a chance!

You're right in understanding that there isn't much vocabulary;; The
things posted in the journal are only sections that I feel extremely
happy and complete with;; There is quite a lot that I am working on
that has not made it into the journal because I am not 100% satisfied
with it;; It actually has taken quite some time to solidify what is on
that LJ right now;; Since it's something that I do as a creative
process I try not to put deadlines on myself;; When I have done this
before I end up scrapping the project completely in frustration;;;;
Basically the thesis of what I'm saying is; If you want to see more I
would check it too often but I do make entries from time to time when
I decide I really like something I've come up with;;
