Okay, I read it as a mailing list, that's why I was looking for an attachment.

The URL works fine, and the layout proposal looks cool, better than
the 'old' one IMHO.

Thanks.

Still some work to be done, I turned on the anti-aliasing after i got
that snapshot. The corners looks a tad better now.

I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

Just testing my opinion with the gang:
One thing I didnt like with qwit (both old and Picture1.png) is / has
been that there's a lot of wasted grayspace. There's some space around
every widget in the ui form - like space around the scrollable tweet
area, space around the top-widget (eg. to the left of "What's up",
below "146 requests left"). All those spacings are larger than really
required, methinks.

Are there others who feel that way, or is it just me? :)

I agreee, and I guess this is pretty much what Artem means with 'more
compact', so it's not just you :)

Mmm, so much space wasted on the left side :( Maybe accounts/pages
menu should popup?

The accounts on the left side makes multiple account handling easier.

I can make the left panel narower Which is a good idea.

Also the Twitter window is not that big onthe screen so the layout is
quite ok.

Future plans.
• Icons for each node on the tree i.e home, replies etc
• Each node will indicate new messages or number of new messages.
• search, search history on the left side.
• retweet node

Many more, lot of things to be done. Unfortunately I have
made too many changes to create a patch.

If we are planing to have multiple accounts then we should be able to
give easy acess to all accounts quicky and also provide quick overview
of the accounts. If we will restrict to one account only then we don't
need the tree onthe left.

At least, we should have an option to hide it.

The splitter window can collapse to hide it. But then I don't find
that really usefull. How would I know if there r new messeges in
inbox or replies etc.

Well I don't really like this side panel either. I don't use multiple
accounts, so it'll be useless to me and I find it just the opposite to
'compact', which is what we were looking for.

I'd be happy if we could have something like a 'ultra compact' view,
where only the stacked tweets are shown.

This is just my opinion anyway. Thanks for your job.

+1 against the side panel.

Prakash, may I suggest a compacter alternative:
http://twitpic.com/1dmuef (mockup with some cut-and-pasting; no code)
(the home/replies/inbox/... buttons in the mockup are checkable in a
mutually exclusive manner)

Hi
Well,
I do not rule out the compact view, the plan is there but it is not for
the desktop application. Desktops enjoy big screen space (well atleast
17") :) so giving as much info and easy of clicking is important.

though I do not use multiple accounts, I was trying to make it work with
multiple accounts. Even with single accounts. if we were to introduce
concepts like lists, multiple searches or personal groups. Or customized
layout in the future i.e. though a plugin, the compact look (the
previous look) will not take things too far.

So, I am convinced with the panel on the right side, maybe it can be
hidden (for others) but for me, it will stay.

The "ultra compact" looks i.e. A fixed window where eveything should be
done is for mobile, and i have planted it for symbian. It is coming soon
after I fix all the problems in desktop.

btw, I think I found a bug in Qt, and probably soon report to them. At a
specific time, the scrollarea widget would report 0 widget and sometimes
99. I guess it was there before too, coz there is a timer that seems to
be relayingout the pages after few seconds. I found a easy workaround
instead of the timer.

On the side note,
I can't work with svn, for the stuff I do, svn does not make it easy for
me. All my changes are in mercurial and they the backed up is on my usb
stick.

Hi Roop,

Thanks for your input, they are good but is not feature scalable. It is old twitter. The application is still limited to those few buttons, home, direct messages, favourites.

The new twitter has evolved, and we need to keep the design open so that we can introduce future design change in twitter easily.

Thanks for the design though, i might use it for symbian version.

With 3 votes against the new design pattern, I guess unfortunately, this brings us to a point, where I will have to create a new distribution of Qwit,

The new distribution of QWit will be opensource and will contain the original license as well as contributors name and link to this version of QWit.
