Dear Qwit Developers,

As far as this is my first post here, let me introduce myself. My name
is Piotr and I'm a software developer and.

Just as Roopesh Chander has suggested to me on Twitter, I'm writing to
tell you about my idea for a more user-friendly way to display Rate
Limit.

I guess you'll agree that a message "148 requests left" doesn't say
much if you know nothing about Twitter API. And I think we should
always assume that the user knows literally nothing about HOW things
work. (Well, I myself knew nothing until having downloaded the
source.)

In my opinion, the user should know as little as possible. Thus a
little progress bar (as thin as possible) would be enough, but NOT
showing any information about rate limit would probably be just as
good.

This is only an idea, but I think it's worth considering. What do you
think about it?

Regards,
Piotr F. Mieszkowski

I second NOT showing it at all. However, when we are close to the
limit (like only 10 requests left or something), maybe we should show
a status message saying "Messages might be dropped for the next 14
minutes" or something like that.

Artem,

What do you think?

roop.

Wow, GMail pushed your messages into spam :( So, maybe I'm little late.
I like both suggestions. Maybe we should allow user to switch between them :)
And also, I had an idea to add a dialog, where profile information and
statistics will be displayed, and we can put the requests counter
there, so the user will be able to access it in any case.

I do know everything, just not all at once. It's a virtual memory problem.

pefirmo, do you want to go ahead and try implementing your/our idea/
ideas? :)

Once done, you can send it to artem or me as a patch file so we can
try it out (or publish it on github maybe).

Hi Roopesh,

I've already changed my copy of Qwit the way that you described (I've
come up with the very same idea at the same time, the only difference
is that I thought about warning when there are only 10% requests
left).

I'm testing my changes and I'll certainly submit them as soon as I'm
sure they're worth it. (I've already got access to the repository, so
I think I'll submit my patch myself.)

And by the way: what do you guys think about code reviews with Google
Code utilities?
