Al-Quran القرأن

English Translation of Al-Quran

[64] Surah At-Taghabun [Mutual Loss and Gain]

Ayat 17. If you lend to Allah a good loan (i.e. spend in Allah’s Cause) He will double it for you, and will forgive you. And Allah is Most Ready to appreciate and to reward, Most Forbearing, Ayat 18. All-Knower of the unseen and seen, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Tafseer of Surah Al Taghabun Ayat 17. If ye loan to Allah, a beautiful loan, He will double it to your (credit), and He will grant you Forgiveness: for Allah is most Ready to appreciate (service), Most Forbearing, Cf. 2:245. Our Charity or Love is called a loan to Allah, which not only increases our credit account manifold, but obtains for us the forgiveness of our sins, and the capacity for increased service in the future. Cf. 14:5, and 35:30. Allah's appreciation of our service or our love goes far deeper than its intrinsic merits or its specific expression on our side. His reward is beyond our deserts, and passes over our defects. He judges by our motives, which He can read through and through; see next verse. 18. Knower of what is open, Exalted in Might, Full of Wisdom. Allah's Appreciation and Forbearing Kindness can reach so far beyond our merits, because (1) His universal knowledge comprehends hidden motives, which others cannot see in us; (2) His power is so great that He can afford to reward even the unworthy; and (3) His Wisdom is so great that He can turn even our weakness into our strength.

*This is the last Ayats of the 64rd Surah of Al-Quran the At-Taghabun which contains 18 Ayats, Insha Allah from tomorrow the 65th Surah of Al-Quran will start.

Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah  [SAWW](PBUH) said, "O people! Allah is Pure and, therefore, accepts only that which is pure. Allah has commanded the believers as He has commanded His Messengers by saying: `O Messengers! Eat of the good things, and do good deeds.' (23:51) And He said: `O you who believe (in the Oneness of Allah - Islamic Monotheism)! Eat of the lawful things that We have provided you...''' (2:172). Then he [SAWW](PBUH) made a mention of the person who travels for a long period of time, his hair are disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky and thus makes the supplication: `My Rubb! My Rubb!' But his food is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, his clothes are unlawful and his nourishment is unlawful, how can, then his supplication be accepted?''

[Muslim Book 08, Chapter 18, Hadith # 2214].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Taghabun Ayat 18. All-Knower of the unseen and seen, the All-Mighty, the All-Wise" For the grant of prayer, honest earning is essential. Allah accepts charity only if it has been earned in an honest way. Moreover, before any pious action, honest earning for living is essential; otherwise, good actions will also go to waste.
