[67] Surah Al-Mulk [The Dominion]

Ayat 23. Say it is He Who has created you, and endowed you with hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts. Little thanks you give.

Tafseer of Surah 67. Al Mulk (The Dominion) Ayat 23. Say: "It is He Who has created you (and made you grow), and made for you the faculties of hearing, seeing, feeling and understanding: little thanks it is ye give. The Teacher is asked to draw constant attention to Allah, the source of all growth and development, the Giver of the faculties by which we can judge and attain higher and higher spiritual dignity. And yet, such is our self-will, we use our faculties for wrong purposes and thus show our ingratitude to Allah.

Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Numan bin Bashir (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, verily, there is a piece of flesh in the body, if it is healthy, the whole body is healthy, and if it is corrupt, the whole body is corrupt. Verily, it is the heart.''

[Muslim Book 10, Chapter 41, Hadith # 3882].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mulk Ayat 23. Say it is He Who has created you, and endowed you with hearing (ears), seeing (eyes), and hearts”, an important point underlying this Hadith concerns the heart. Its purity or impurity directly affects human conduct in a good or bad way. It is, therefore, absolutely necessary to cleanse the heart of all wiles and impurities, and this is not possible without sound Faith and consciousness of Allah.
