English Translation of Al-Quran

[28].Surah Al-Ankabut [The Spider]

Ayat 3. And We indeed tested those who were before them. And Allah will certainly make (it) known (the truth of) those who are true, and will certainly make (it) known (the falsehood of) those who are liars, (although Allah knows all that before putting them to test).

Tafseer of Surah Al-Ankabut (The Spider) Ayat 3. We did test those before them, and Allah will certainly know those who are true from those who are false. The word "know" is used here more in the sense of testing than of acquiring knowledge. Allah is All-Knowing: He needs no test to increase His own knowledge, but the test is to burn out the dross within ourselves, as explained in the last note.

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Khabbab bin Al-Aratt (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: We complained to the Messenger of Allah image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) regarding the persecution inflicted upon us by the disbelievers while he was lying in the shade of the Kabbah, having made a pillow of his cloak. We submitted: "Why do you not supplicate for our prevalence (over the opponents)?''. He image001.jpg [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "Among those people before you, a man would be seized and held in a pit dug for him in the ground and he would be sawed into two halves from his head, and his flesh torn away from his bones with an iron comb; but, in spite of this, he would not wean away from his Faith. By Allah, Allah will bring this matter to its consummation until a rider will travel from Sana' (Yemen) to Hadramout fearing none except Allah, and except the wolf for his sheep, but you are in too much of a hurry".

[Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 56, Hadith # 809]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Al- Ankabut Ayat 03. “We indeed tested those who were before them”

1. Difficulties in the path of Faith do not come in any particular period. People devoted to their Deen have passed through trials and tribulations everywhere and in every age and have emerged purified as does the gold after passing through the furnace. So, it is unbecoming for a Muslim to be disturbed by hardships.

2. The glad tidings about domination of religion and peace and security were given in the early period of Islam which were subsequently witnessed by the people. Even now wherever Islam is practiced in true sense, peace and security are distinctive features of the system of that country.
