The 114th verse of the 55th revealed chapter

Today hundreds and possibly over a thousand people died in a stampede during pilgrimage rituals outside Mecca. The incident took place as people were heading to participate in the ritual known as "stoning the devil". Hundreds have been killed in past years during the same ceremony, and it comes only 13 days after a crane collapse killed more than 100 people at the Grand Mosque in Mecca.

According to Rashad Khalifa and aslo the sectarian scholars, Submission to God has major ritualistic components. In Appendix 15 of his translation Rashad wrote: "The stoning ceremonies symbolize rejection of Satan's polytheism and are done by throwing seven pebbles at each of three stations, while glorifying God (15:34)." 

Obviously this ritual cannot be derived from 15:34. We can only try to rationalize it if we believe that such a ritual was given by God to Abraham as Rashad calims in Appendix 9.

Rituals were of such significance to Rashad that he considers 'Good Deeds' to be only "snacks" for the soul.

"The five daily contact prayers are the main meals for the soul. While a soul may attain some growth and development by leading a righteous life, and without observing the contact prayers, this would be like surviving on snacks without regular meals."(Appendix 15). God on the other hand calls it 'steep uphill road'(90:11)

Since we believe that everything is controlled by God, based on today's date(Sep 24), let's look up the 924th 'God' in the numbered verses of the Quran. This takes us to the 114th verse of the 55th revealed chapter.

Under this topic, God Willing, in the capacity of a student of the Quran and not more, I will humbly share my understanding of the meaning of 'Islam' and will offer evidence that based on the Quran mathematics it was God who called us 'Submitters'(Moslems) not Abraham(22:78).

According to the CSR, if we start with 6:114 and count the verses that contain both 'God' and 'Q',the 329th verse will be 2:132 and the frequency of Q in these 329 verses is 6,55

And Abraham enjoined his sons and Jacob: "O my sons, God has chosen for you the True System of Life, so do not die except as ones who have surrendered."

Note that Rashad has mistranslated the word اصطَفىٰ to make the meaning of the verse compatible with his understanding of 22:78.

In his footnote to 22:78 RK says: "Although all messengers preached one and the same message, ``Worship God alone,'' Abraham was the first messenger to coin the terms "Submission" (Islam) and "Submitter" (Muslim) (2:128)."

However I think Rashad failed to notice that 2:131 refers to a much earlier time of Abraham's life - when he was a young man(unlike 2:128) - and was commanded to 'surrrender' (أَسلِم ; gematrical value = 131)himself to the Lord of the Universe.

22:78 (part)

هُوَ سَمّىٰكُمُ المُسلِمينَ مِن قَبلُ وَفى هٰذا

Rashad's translation: He(Abraham) is the one who named you "Submitters" originally. Thus,

I believe the correct translaiton is:

He(God) is the One who named you 'those who have surrendered' from before as well as in this (revelation)

The verse contains one occurrence of the letter ذ

This letter is the 9th letter of the Arabic Alphabet and the 25th letter in Abjad System.

This letter is also the central letter in the word الذكر (The Reminder) in 15:9

Gematrical value of الذكر is 951 (159 reversed)

22:78 is the 1543rd verse in the Quran that contains the letter ذ

6:125 (part)

فَمَن يُرِدِ اللَّهُ أَن يَهدِيَهُ يَشرَح صَدرَهُ لِلإِسلٰمِ

Whomever God wills to guide, He spreads open his heart to submission

Gematrical value = 1543

6:125 is the 428th numbered verse in un-initialed chapters

If we start with 22:78 and count the letter ذ , then the 1273rd is the one in 42:51

1273 = 19 x 19th prime

42:51 is 62:51 according to the order of the revelation

Gematrical value of the Quran is 383

If we start with 22:78 and count the letter ذ , then the 1383rd ذ will be in 46:4 in the phrase من قبل هذا

قُل أَرَءَيتُم ما تَدعونَ مِن دونِ اللَّهِ أَرونى ماذا خَلَقوا مِنَ الأَرضِ أَم لَهُم شِركٌ فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ ائتونى بِكِتٰبٍ مِن قَبلِ هٰذا أَو أَثٰرَةٍ مِن عِلمٍ إِن كُنتُم صٰدِقينَ

Say: "Do you see those that you call on besides God? Show me what they have created on the earth, or do they have a share in the heavens? Bring me a book before this, or any trace of knowledge, if you are truthful." 

I beleive this constitutes a solid proof that the word هٰذا in 22:78 refers to the Quran and therefore the word هُوَ (He) that precedes it cannot possibly refer to Abraham.

My posts reflect my understanding of the Quran at the time of writing and I'm solely responsible for their content.

The purpose of this post is to refute appendix 26 of Rashad Khalifa's translation of the Quran.

In this appendix Rashad starts with a false premise 

"Abraham was the original messenger of Islam, i.e, Submission (22:78)" 

and then through unconvincing multiples of 19 arrives at a false conclusion

"Thus, it is mathematically coded into the Quran that Abraham, Muhammad, and Rashad are the three messengers of Islam (Submission)."

The following statements have been extracted from Rashad footnotes:

1. Submission is the religion of Abraham(footnote to 2:135)

2. All messengers have preached one and the same religion(footnote to 4:125)

Then why not include Moses and Jesus among the messengers of Submission?

The answer is found in footnote to 2:135

"The Quran repeatedly informs us that Submission is the religion of Abraham (3:95, 4:125, 6:161, 22:78). Abraham received a practical "scripture," namely, all the duties and practices of Submission [the Contact Prayers (Salat), the obligatory charity (Zakat), the fasting of Ramadan, and the Hajj pilgrimage]. Muhammad was a follower of Abraham's religion, as we see in 16:123; he delivered this Final Testament, the Quran. The third messenger of Submission delivered the religion's proof of authenticity"

It appears to me that since there is absolutely no Quranic or Biblical evidnce to suggest any connection between 'The True Way of Life' advocated by Moses and Jesus with the Shrine in Mecca, Rashad did not count these two prophets among the followers of the Abraham's religion and excluded them from the messengers of Submission.

This is corroborated by the footnote to 3:81 where he considers Judaism and Christianity to be God's messages that have been corrupted.

"God's Messenger of the Covenant is to purify and unify God's messages which were delivered by God's prophets. Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, etc. have been severely corrupted."

However, Quran is clear that the 'True Way of Life' decreed to Mohammad(as it is expounded in The Quran) was THE VERY SAME that was decreed to Noah and identical to what was decreed to Abraham, Moses and Jesus(42:13) and that Abraham was a follower of Noah(37:83). 

In fact, there are two verses in the Quran that make it crystal clear that Moses and Jesus were also the messengers of Submission.

10:84

وَقالَ موسىٰ يٰقَومِ إِن كُنتُم ءامَنتُم بِاللَّهِ فَعَلَيهِ تَوَكَّلوا إِن كُنتُم مُسلِمينَ

Moses said, “O My people! If you do believe in God, then place your trust in Him – if you have truly surrendered to Him.

3:52

فَلَمّا أَحَسَّ عيسىٰ مِنهُمُ الكُفرَ قالَ مَن أَنصارى إِلَى اللَّهِ قالَ الحَوارِيّونَ نَحنُ أَنصارُ اللَّهِ ءامَنّا بِاللَّهِ وَاشهَد بِأَنّا مُسلِمونَ

When Jesus perceived their denial, he said, Who will be my helpers in Gods cause? The disciples said, We are Gods helpers, we believe in God. Bear witness that we have surrendered ourselves.

Although many Western news services followed the precedent of Saudi Arabia media, who initially characterized the event as a "stampede", the term has been rejected by some academic experts who study crowd movements and crushing disasters.[22] "The rhetoric of 'stampede' is often used to imply that the crowd is animalistic or mindless, but from a crowd psychology point of view, I'm sure that there was a logical explanation for the crush", University of Sussex crowd behavioral expert Anne Templeton told Newsweek. "The density of the Hajj has been shown to reach up to 6–8 people per square meter, so I would be very surprised if a stampede (implying people running mindlessly) could occur in the first place."[164] The Mina disaster is better understood as a "progressive crowd collapse":[22][164] beginning at densities of about six[22] to seven[165] persons per square meter, individuals are pressed so closely against each other they are unable to move as individuals, and shockwaves can travel through a crowd which, at such densities, behaves somewhat like a fluid.[165] If a single person falls, or other people reach down to help, waves of bodies can be involuntarily precipitated forward into the open space.[22] One such shockwave can create other openings in the crowd nearby, precipitating further crushing.[22] Unable to draw breath, individuals in a crowd can also be crushed while standing.[165] Journalistic misuse of the term "stampede", says Edwin Galea of the University of Greenwich, is the result of "pure ignorance and laziness … it gives the impression that it was a mindless crowd only caring about themselves, and they were prepared to crush people."[22] In reality, individuals are directly crushed by others nearby who have no choice, and those who can choose are too distant from the epicenter to be aware of what is happening.[22] According to experts, true "stampedes" (and "panics") rarely occur except when a crowd is fleeing in fear, such as from a fire,[165] and rarely does trampling by other human beings in such "stampede" conditions result in fatal injuries.[22]

"If you look at the analysis, I’ve not seen any instances of the cause of mass fatalities being a stampede," says Keith Still, professor of crowd science at Manchester Metropolitan University. "People don’t die because they panic. They panic because they are dying."[22]

In the 8th issue of MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE(Sep 1985) Rashad Khalifa declared "the establishment of the richest and most powerful nation on earth: UNITED ISLAMIC NATION"

"Those permitted by God to understand the Qur’an’s mathematical miracle (as published by this Mosque during the last decade) will fully realize the awesome dimensions of this declaration. They will realize that these are not human-made predictions, this is not vain talk."

" Geographically, UIN will extend from Indonesia in the east to Morocco in the west, and from Nigeria in the south to Turkey in the north. THE FEDERAL CAPITAL SHALL BE MECCA."

"Almost all present governments in the region will reject and scoff at this offer. Consequently, there will be a change of government in that region at the rate of at least three government every two years, until a government comes with the specific objective of joining UIN."

"Victory of the UNITED ISLAMIC NATION is absolutely guaranteed by God’s own “19” words of the Qur’an’s final sura in the order of revelation"

"Because UIN will set a perfect example for the rest of the world, additional countries will join. Two stubborn corners will refuse to join, namely, USA & USSR (GOG & MAGOG). Just before the end of the world (1710 AH/2280 AD), the USA & USSR will try to crush the Islamic giant. That is when the horn will be blown, and the Day of Judgment will come to pass."

In 11th issue of MP(Dec 1985) Rashad wrote

"The United Islamic Nation was declared in the MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE of Muharram 1, 1406 (September 15, 1985)...Saudi Arabia and Iran have received our invitation ...SAUDI ARABIA and/or IRAN

MAY REJECT OUR INVITATION. In this case, the government will surely fall. It will not be a matter of probability or possibility; the government’s fall is assured. It will only be a matter of time. Exactly how and when the government will fall is up to God Almighty. The fall of Saudi Arabia and/or Iran, if they fail to heed the Message, should be expected within two years. God’s invisible and invincible forces will carry out the coup d’etat against any government in the region that rejects the invitation to establish the UNITED ISLAMIC NATION. As stated in the Muharram 1406 issue of MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE, the governments in the UIN region who choose to ignore or reject the invitation to re-establish the true Islam will fall at the rate of three governments every two years (see 9:126).

Also in MUSLIM PERSPECTIVE No.12(Jan 1986) Rashad wrote

"In the coming months, IN SHAA ALLAH, we will see the objecting governments fall one after another. The new governments will join UIN at the rate of 3 governments every 2 years (see Muharram 1406 issue). Those who ridicule the UIN declaration will not laugh for long. They are simply trying to resist THE TIDAL WAVE OF TRUE ISLAM AS PREACHED BY GOD’S FINAL PROPHET MUHAMMAD."

Governments of Saudi Arabia and Iran did not fall. Rashad's prediction in MP No.4 (May 1985) that "Based on the word of God, that He forsakes those who forsake Him, and humiliates those who declare war on Him, I herein predict that Fahd shall be the FINAL SAUDI KING." also did not come true. The Soviet Union was dissolved in 1991 and in Rashad's final translation of the Quran, the role of the USA was reversed(see footnote to 21:96).

When these human-made predictions failed, any mention of UNITED ISLAMIC NATION quietly vanished from the subsequent issues of Muslim Perspective. 

When we make dogmatic assertions about the Quran based on a speculative understanding of a verse(9:126), the fallacy of our speculations will be exposed and messengers are no exceptions to God's law. 

In another post - if it is God's will - I will argue how Rashad's appendix 32 defies reason and contradicts a host of Quranic verses.

وَقالَ الرَّسولُ يٰرَبِّ إِنَّ قَومِى اتَّخَذوا هٰذَا القُرءانَ مَهجورًا 

And the Messenger will say,“O my Lord, truly my people took this Quran as virtually useless.” 

The letter Q in the word Quran in this verse is the 4213rd Q in the Quran.

42:13

شَرَعَ لَكُم مِنَ الدّينِ ما وَصّىٰ بِهِ نوحًا وَالَّذى أَوحَينا إِلَيكَ وَما وَصَّينا بِهِ إِبرٰهيمَ وَموسىٰ وَعيسىٰ أَن أَقيمُوا الدّينَ وَلا تَتَفَرَّقوا فيهِ كَبُرَ عَلَى المُشرِكينَ ما تَدعوهُم إِلَيهِ اللَّهُ يَجتَبى إِلَيهِ مَن يَشاءُ وَيَهدى إِلَيهِ مَن يُنيبُ

He decreed for you the same true way of life decreed for Noah, and what we inspired to you, and what we decreed for Abraham, Moses, and Jesus: "You shall uphold this one true way of life, and do not stir up any divisions within it." The idol worshipers will greatly resent what you invite them to do. God redeems to Himself whomever He wills; He guides to Himself only those who totally submit.

This verse emphatically points out that Islam is not the religion of Muahmmad but it is the true way of life decreed to all messengers of submission starting with Noah which is conveyed to mankind through the Quran. Isalm is not about Muhammad at all. it is all about God.

If the pseudomuslims followed the Quran, they would put an end to their evil practices of murder and oppression over imagniary holy lands, holy saints and holy rituals.

Babies are born with inherent knowledge of God and inherent knowledge of good and bad(30:30) not with inherent knowledge of Muahammad(or his family),shrines and rituals and that is why despite Rashad Khalifa's claim in his comment on 5:69, belief and good deeds which are instinctive are FULL requirements for salvation.

98:7

إِنَّ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ أُولٰئِكَ هُم خَيرُ البَرِيَّةِ

Those who believe and perform honorable deeds are the best creatures.

13:29

الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ طوبىٰ لَهُم وَحُسنُ مَـٔابٍ 

Those who believe and do good deeds, for them there is the bliss and a good place to return.

29:7

وَالَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ لَنُكَفِّرَنَّ عَنهُم سَيِّـٔاتِهِم وَلَنَجزِيَنَّهُم أَحسَنَ الَّذى كانوا يَعمَلونَ

We shall certainly blot out the misdeeds of those who believe and do good deeds, and We shall reward them according to the best of their actions.

28:38

أَم نَجعَلُ الَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ كَالمُفسِدينَ فِى الأَرضِ أَم نَجعَلُ المُتَّقينَ كَالفُجّارِ

Or should we treat those who believe and do righteous deeds like corrupters in the land? Or should We treat those who fear God like the wicked?

2:82

وَالَّذينَ ءامَنوا وَعَمِلُوا الصّٰلِحٰتِ أُولٰئِكَ أَصحٰبُ الجَنَّةِ هُم فيها خٰلِدونَ

And those who believe and do good work, they are the people of Paradise, in it they abide eternally.

40:40

مَن عَمِلَ سَيِّئَةً فَلا يُجزىٰ إِلّا مِثلَها وَمَن عَمِلَ صٰلِحًا مِن ذَكَرٍ أَو أُنثىٰ وَهُوَ مُؤمِنٌ فَأُولٰئِكَ يَدخُلونَ الجَنَّةَ يُرزَقونَ فيها بِغَيرِ حِسابٍ

Whoever does evil will be requited with evil; but whoever does good, whether male or female, and is a believer, will enter Paradise; where they will be provided for without measure.
