[31].Surah Luqman [Luqman]

Ayat 17. (Hazrat Luqman said to his son when he was advising him) "O my son! Aqim­is­ Salat (perform AsSalat), enjoin (people) for Al­-Maruf (Islamic Monotheism and all that is good), and forbid (people) from Al­-Munkar (i.e. disbelief in the Oneness of Allah, polytheism of all kinds and all that is evil and bad), and bear with patience whatever befall you. Verily! These are some of the important commandments ordered by Allah with no exemption.

Tafseer of Surah Luqman Ayat 17. Hazrat Luqman further advising his son said "O my son! establish regular prayer, enjoin what is just, and forbid what is wrong: and bear with patient constancy whatever betide thee; for this is firmness (of purpose) in (the conduct of) affairs.

 

Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith  

Hazrat Buraidah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, "That which differentiates us from the disbelievers and hypocrites is our performance of Salat. He who abandons it, becomes a disbeliever.''

[At-Tirmidhi Hadith # 2621]

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Luqman Ayat 17. “(Hazrat Luqman said to his son when he was advising him) "O my son! Aqim­is­ Salat (perform AsSalat)” This Hadith makes the importance of Salat in Islam abundantly clear. The opinion of the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) was based on the information contained in the Hadith which have been mentioned above. They did not take the Hadith which interpreted the leaving of Salat as Kufr mere scolding or reproof. They considered slackness and negligence in Salat as Kufr and apostasy and regarded Salat a symbol of Islam.
