English Translation of Al-Quran
[74] Surah Al-Mudassir [The One Enveloped]
Ayat 18. Verily, he (Walid ibn Mughirah) thought and plotted;
Ayat 19. So let him be cursed! How he plotted!
Ayat 20. And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted!
Ayat 21. Then he thought;
Ayat 22. Then he frowned and he looked in a bad-tempered way;
Ayat 23. Then he turned back and was proud;
Ayat 24. Then he said: "This is nothing but magic from that of old;
Ayat 25.”This is nothing but the word of a human being!"
Tafseer of Surah Al- Mudassir Ayat 18 to 25. For he thought and he plotted;- 19. And woe to him! How he plotted! "Woe to the falsehood mongers!" 20. Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!-21. Then he looked round; 22. Then he frowned and he scowled; 23. Then he turned back and was haughty; 24. Then he said: "This is nothing but magic, derived from old; The Commentators understand the reference to be to Walid ibn Mughirah, who was a wealthy Sybarite, Pagan to the core, and an inveterate enemy to the Prophet. He and Abu Jahl did all they could, from the beginning of the preaching of Islam, to abuse and persecute the Preacher, to run down his doctrine, and to injure those who believed in it. But the meaning for us is much wider. There are Walids of all ages. They cannot understand divine inspiration, and seek to explain its wonderful influence over the lives of men by some such unmeaning formula as "magic". The eternal Hope is to them mere human delusion! 25. "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!".
Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Harithah bin Wahb (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I heard Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) saying, "Shall I not inform you about the people of Jannah? It is every person who is modest and humble (before Allah), a person who is considered weak and is looked down upon but if he adjures Allah, Allah will certainly give him what he desires. Now shall I not inform you about the inmates of Hell? It is every violent, impertinent and proud man".
[Al-Bukhari Book 06, Chapter 60, Hadith # 440].
Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mudassir Ayat 22. Then he frowned and he looked in a bad-tempered way; Ayat 23. Then he turned back and was proud; " This Hadith tells us about distinction of such weak, poor and secluded persons who do not have any important position in society but are so eminent in the realm of piety that, out of their utmost trust in Allah, if they take an oath for something, Almighty Allah fulfills their oath. Thus, this Hadith highlights the importance of modesty and condemns pride, miserliness and lust for name and fame.
