English Translation of Al-Quran
[46]. Surah Al-Ahqaf [The Curved Sand Hills]
Ayat 24. Then, when they (Aad’s) saw it as a dense cloud coming towards their valleys, they said: "This is a cloud bringing us rain!" (Prophet Hud AS) replied Nay, but it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened! a wind wherein is a painful torment!
Tafseer of Surah Al-Ahqaf Ayat 24. Then, when they saw the (Penalty in the shape of) a cloud traversing the sky, coming to meet their valleys, they said, "This cloud will give us rain!" "Nay, it is the (Calamity) ye were asking to be hastened!- A wind wherein is a Grievous Penalty! The Punishment came suddenly, and when they least expected it. They wanted rain, and they saw a cloud and rejoiced. Behold, it was coming towards their own tracts, winding through the hills. Their irrigation channels would be full, their fields would be green, and their season would be fruitful. But no! What is this? It is a tremendous hurricane, carrying destruction on its wings! A violent blast, with dust and sand! Its fury destroys everything in its wake! Lives lost! Fields covered with sand hills! The morning dawns on a scene of desolation! Where were the men who boasted and defied their Lord! There are only the ruins of their houses to witness to the past!

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) was speaking to us when, a Bedouin came and asked him: "When will the Last Day be?'' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) continued his talk. Some of those present thought that he had heard him but disliked the interruption and the other said that he had not heard him. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) concluded his speech he asked, "Where is the one who inquired about the Last Day?'' The man replied: "Here I am.'' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "When the practice of honoring a trust is lost, expect the Last Day.'' He asked: "How could it be lost?'' He replied, "When the government is entrusted to the undeserving people, then wait for the Last Day.''

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ahqaf Ayat “(Prophet Hud AS) replied Nay, but it is that (torment) which you were asking to be hastened! a wind wherein is a painful torment! and also in Surah Ash-Shu'ara Ayat 189."the torment of the day of shadow (a gloomy cloud) seized them, indeed that was the torment of a Great Day" Here a very important sign of the nearness of the Day of Judgment has been mentioned: The affairs of the world will be in the hands of wicked and undeserving people. The sinners and wicked people will become the leaders of the world. The preaching pulpits would also be occupied by people who would be greedy and ignorant. They will be devoid of piety and abstinence.
