Al-Quran القرأن

English Translation of Al-Quran

[64] Surah At-Taghabun [Mutual Loss and Gain]

Ayat 6. (As a result of their disbelief, painful torment was imposed on them) That was because they came to their Messengers with clear proof (signs), but they said: "Shall mere men guide us?" So, they disbelieved and turned away (from the truth), and Allah was not in need (of them). And Allah is Rich (Free of all wants), Worthy of all praise.

Tafseer of Surah Al Taghabun Ayat 6. That was because there came to them messengers with Clear Signs, but they said: "Shall (mere) human beings direct us?" So they rejected (the Message) and turned away. But Allah can do without (them): and Allah is free of all needs, worthy of all praise. This is referred to in a more expanded form in 14:9-11. Their obedience is not necessary to Allah, nor will their rejection of Truth affect the validity of Truth or injure the progress of Truth. Allah is free of all needs or dependence on any circumstance whatever. He sends His Message for the good of mankind, and it is man who suffers by ignoring, rejecting, or opposing it.

Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Masud (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: I can still recall as if I am seeing the Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) resembling one of the Prophets whose people scourged him and shed his blood, while he wiped blood from his face, he said: "O Allah! Forgive my people, because they certainly do not know".

[Al-Bukhari 09, Chapter 84, Hadith # 63].

Lesson: It mentions the refined character and compassion of the Prophets which has an important lesson for those who preach righteousness. They should be always prepared to face hardships involved in inviting people to the right path and, instead of retaliation, forgive their audience and pray for their guidance. These noble qualities are extremely important for those who are devoted to preaching religion.
