[67] Surah Al-Mulk [The Dominion]
Ayat 16. Do you feel secure that He, Who is over the heaven (Allah), will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes (as in an earthquake)?
Tafseer of Surah 67. Al Mulk (The Dominion) 16. Do ye feel secure that He Who is in heaven will not cause you to be swallowed up by the earth when it shakes (as in an earthquake)? Cf. 17:68. Also Cf. the story of Qarun in 28:76-82. If we feel safe on land, it is because Allah has made this earth amenable, manageable and serviceable to us. But if we defy Allah and break His Law, do we have any security, that even this comparatively unimportant safety in a fleeting world will last? Looking at it from a purely physical point of view, have there not been dreadful earthquakes, typhoons, and tornadoes?
Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Zainab (May Allah be pleased with her) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) came to visit me one day frightened and he ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, "La ilaha illallah (There is no true God but Allah). Woe to the Arabs because of an evil which has drawn near! Today an opening of this size has been made in the barrier restraining Ya'juj and Ma'juj (Gog and Magog people).'' And he ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) made a circle with his thumb and index finger. I said, ``O Messenger of Allah! Shall we perish while still there will be righteous people among us?'' He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) replied, "Yes, when wickedness prevails".
[Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 55, Hadith # 565]
Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Mulk Ayat 16. “(Allah), will not cause the earth to sink with you, then behold it shakes". This Hadith also tells us about the ominous sin. It says that when vice becomes common, then in spite of the presence of some virtuous persons, that community will be destroyed. But on the Day of Resurrection, those noble persons who had done their duty of preaching virtue and checking vice will stand apart from the sinners. Thus, this Hadith induces one to keep away from sins.
