السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

Al-Quran القرأن

English Translation of Al-Quran

[73] Surah Al-Muzzammil [The One Wrapped in Garments]

Ayat 6. Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah).

Ayat 7. Verily, (O Muhammad [SAWW](PBUH) there is for you by day prolonged occupation with ordinary duties,

Ayat 8. And remember the Name of your Lord and devote yourself to Him with complete devotion.

Ayat 9. (He Alone is) the Lord of the east and the west, La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He). So take Him Alone as Wakil (Disposer of your affairs).

Tafseer of Surah Al-Muzzammil Ayat 06 to 09. Truly the rising by night is most potent for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (framing) the Word (of Prayer and Praise). For contemplation, prayer, and praise, what time can be so suitable as the night, when calm and silence prevail, the voices of the marketplace are still, and the silent stars pour forth their eloquence to the discerning soul. 7. True, there is for thee by day prolonged occupation with manifold engagements: A prophet of Allah, as a man, a member of a family, or a citizen, has many manifold duties to perform; and his work may be made difficult and irksome in protecting those who listen to his preaching and are therefore molested and persecuted by the world. But while discharging all his manifold duties, he should work as in the presence of Allah, and in all matters and at all times retain the sense of Allah's nearness. His work may be on earth, but his heart is in Heaven. 8. But keep in remembrance the name of thy Lord and devote thyself to Him whole-heartedly. 9. (He is) Lord of the East and the West: there is no god but He: take Him therefore for (thy) Disposer of Affairs. Allah is all-in-all-. He is Lord of all places. He rules the world. Therefore, be not discouraged by the plots or enmity of wicked men. Leave all things to Allah; trust Him; He is just and will do justice. Only turn away from the unjust, but in a worthy, noble way; i.e., to show them clearly that you do not fear them, but that you leave all affairs in Allah's hands. If we divide the world into hemispheres from the north to south, "East and West" will cover all directions.

Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-Aas (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) supplicated: "Allahumma musarrifal-qulubi, sarrif qulubana `ala ta`atika (O Allah! Controller of the hearts, direct our hearts to Your obedience).''

[Muslim Book 33, Chapter 03, Hadith # 6481]

Lesson : This is a very important prayer because through it one seeks steadfastness in virtue. Everybody's heart is always open to troubles, turmoil and ordeals and he is drifting from one situation to the other. If he is not supported by Allah, he can deviate from the Right Path at any moment. For this reason, he has been required to pray to Allah to save his heart from turning towards evils and keep it towards Allah, because it is He Alone Who is Capable of controlling hearts.
