Al-Quran القرأن

English Translation of Al-Quran

[52] Surah At-Tur [The Mount]

Ayat 9. On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, Ayat 10. And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement.

Ayat 11. Then woe that Day to the beliers;

Ayat 12. Who is playing in falsehood?

Ayat 13. The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing.

Tafseer of Surah At-Tur (The Mount) Ayat 9. On the Day when the firmament will be in dreadful commotion. The Day of Judgment is typified by two figures. (1) "The firmament will be in dreadful commotion." The heavens as we see them suggest to us peace and tranquility, and the power of fixed laws which all the heavenly bodies obey. This will all be shaken in the rise of the new spiritual world. Cf. Matt. 26:29: "Immediately after the tribulation of those days . . . the powers of the heavens shall be shaken." For (2) see next note. 10. And the mountains will fly hither and thither. (2) The mountains are a type of firmness and stability. But things that we think of as firm and stable in this material life will be shaken to pieces, and will be no more substantial than a mirage in a desert. Cf. 78:20. 11. Then woe that Day to those that treat (Truth) as Falsehood. That Day will be a Day of Woe to the wrongdoers described in two aspects, the rebels against Allah and Allah's Truth, just as it will be a Day of Joy and Thanksgiving to the Righteous, who are described in three aspects in verses 17 to 28. The rebels are here described as being those who openly defied Truth and plunged into wrongdoing, or who trifled with truth, who jested with serious matter, who had not the courage to plunge openly into wrongdoing but who secretly took profit out of it, who wasted their life in doubts and petty quibbles. It is difficult to say which attitude did more harm to themselves and to others. Both are aspects of deep-seated sin and rebellion. But the mercy of Allah was open to all if they had repented and amended their lives. 12. That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 13. That Day shall they be thrust down to the Fire of Hell, irresistibly.

Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Ibn Umer (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) took hold of my shoulders and said, "Be in the world like a stranger or a wayfarer". Ibn `Umar (May Allah be pleased with them) used to say: "When you survive till the evening, do not expect to live until the morning; and when you survive until the morning, do not expect to live until the evening; (do good deeds) when you are in good health before you fall sick, and (do good deeds) as long as you are alive before death strikes".

[Al-Bukhari Book 08, Chapter 76, Hadith # 425]

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah At-Tur Ayat 13. The Day when they will be pushed down by force to the Fire of Hell, with a horrible, forceful pushing” A person who will consider this world as a temporary stage, will certainly not like that his clothes be entangled in thorny bushes of this world. The greatest fault of man is that he does not understand this status of the world. In spite of the fact that he is not sure of a moment's life here, he occupies himself in amassing goods and riches which would last for a hundred years.
