Al-Quran القرأن

English Translation of Al-Quran
[69] Surah Al-Haqqah [The Sure Reality]
Ayat 6. And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind;
Ayat 7. Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms!
Ayat 8. Do you see any remnants of them?
Tafseer of Surah Al-Haqqah Ayat 6 to 8. And the ´Ad-they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; Ad were an unjust people spoilt by their prosperity. The prophet Hud preached to them in vain. They were apparently destroyed by a terrible blast of wind. See Ayat 7:65. See also 41:15-16, and Ayat 54:19, 7. He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou could see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm trees tumbled down! A graphic simile. Dead men all lying about like hollow trunks of palm trees with their roots exposed! The 'Ad were reputed to be of a tall stature. 8. Then seest thou any of them left surviving? The calamity was thorough. Ad were destroyed, and then Thamud, and only the tradition of them was left behind.
Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, "A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: `If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,' but say only: `Allah so determined and did as He willed.' The word `if' opens the gates of satanic thoughts".
[Muslim Chapter 08, Book 33, Hadith # 6441].
Lesson : 1. In this Hadith, goodness is acknowledged in weak as well as strong because the real Faith is a common feature of both. The one who is stronger is, however, better with Allah for the reason that he is more active and energetic in the matter of noble deeds and performance of ritual prayers, obligatory as well as voluntary.
2. This Hadith ordains that in case of trouble, one should exercise patience and show submission and obedience rather than saying `ifs' and `buts' about it, because it provides Satan with a chance to mislead the sufferer.
