[51] Surah Adh-Dhariyat [The Winds that Scatter]
Ayat 43. And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!"
Ayat 44. But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord, so the Sa'iqah overtook them while they were looking.
Ayat 45. Then they were unable to rise up, nor could they help themselves.
Tafseer of Surah Adh-Dhariyat Ayat 43 to 45. And in the Thamud (was another Sign): Behold, they were told, "Enjoy (your brief day) for a little while!" See the story of the Thamud and their prophet Salih AS in 7:73-79. Here the point is the suddenness of their punishment and its unexpected nature. Salih, their prophet, gave them three days' clear warning for repentance (11:65). But they heeded him not. On the contrary they flouted him and continued in their evil courses. 44. But they insolently defied the Command of their Lord: So the stunning noise (of an earthquake) seized them, even while they were looking on. They had already defied the order to preserve the She-camel, which was symbolic of the grazing rights of the common people: see 11:64-65. They continued to flout the warnings of the prophet until the earthquake came on them with a stunning noise and buried them where they were: 7:78; and 11:67. Sa'iqah: a stunning sound like that of thunder and lightning (2:55); such a sound often accompanies an earthquake, (see 41:17, and 7:78). 45. Then they could not even stand (on their feet), nor could they help themselves. They were swept off in the earthquake.
Hadith الحدیث
English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) said, "A strong believer is better and dearer to Allah than a weak one, and both are good. Adhere to that which is beneficial for you. Keep asking Allah for help and do not refrain from it. If you are afflicted in any way, do not say: `If I had taken this or that step, it would have resulted into such and such,' but say only: `Allah so determined and did as He willed.' The word `if' opens the gates of satanic thoughts".
[Muslim Chapter 08, Book 33, Hadith # 6441].
Lesson : 1. In this Hadith, goodness is acknowledged in weak as well as strong because the real Faith is a common feature of both. The one who is stronger is, however, better with Allah for the reason that he is more active and energetic in the matter of noble deeds and performance of ritual prayers, obligatory as well as voluntary.
2. This Hadith ordains that in case of trouble, one should exercise patience and show submission and obedience rather than saying `ifs' and `buts' about it, because it provides Satan with a chance to mislead the sufferer.
