English Translation of Al-Quran

[12].Surah Yusuf [Joseph]

Ayat 70. So when he had furnished them forth with their provisions, he put the (golden) bowl into his brother's bag, then a crier cried: "O you (in) the caravan! Surely, you are thieves!"

Ayat 71. They, turning towards them, said: "What is it that you have missed?"

Ayat 72. They said: "We have missed the (golden) bowl of the king and for him who produces it is (the reward of) a camel load; I will be bound by it."

Tafseer of Surah Yusuf (PBUH) Ayat 70, 71 & 72. At length when he had furnished them forth with provisions (suitable) for them, he put the drinking cup into his brother´s saddle-bag. Then shouted out a crier: "O ye (in) the caravan! behold! ye are thieves, without doubt!" Joseph's plan was to play a practical joke on them, which would achieve two objects. Immediately it would put them into some consternation, but nothing comparable to what he had suffered at their hands. When the plan was unraveled, it would make them thoroughly ashamed of themselves, and dramatically bring home their guilt to them. Secondly, it would give him an excuse to detain Benjamin and bring their aged father into Egypt . He contrived that a valuable drinking cup should be concealed in Benjamin's saddlebag. When it was found after an ostentatious search, he would detain the supposed culprit, and attain his object, as the story relates further on. 71. They said, turning towards them: "What is it that ye miss?" 72. They said: "We miss the great beaker of the king; for him who produces it, is (the reward of) a camel load; I will be bound by it."

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abud-Darda (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: Messenger of Allah cid:64F7D1951F284379B0EABFD47700DEDC@gmail[SAWW](PBUH) said, "Nothing will be heavier on the Day of Resurrection in the Scale of the believer than good manners. Allah hates one who utters foul or coarse language.''

[At-Tirmidhi, Hadith # 2002].

Lesson : as mentioned above in Surah Yusuf Ayat 70. "he had furnished them forth with their provisions," The most beneficial thing on the Day of Resurrection will be a courteous behaviour which will outweigh all good actions. But that will be witnessed in case of a believer as there is no question of weighing a non-believer's good actions. Allah Himself says in the Qur'an: "So their works are in vain, and on the Day of Resurrection, We shall assign no weight for them.'' So will a morally depraved and nonsensical man stand unfavoured with Allah, and this will be a sign of his frustration and disillusionment in the Hereafter.
