English Translation of Al-Quran
[17].Surah Al-Isra' [The Journey By Night] also known as Surah Bani Israel [The Children of Israel]
Ayat 45. And when you recite the Qur'an, We put between you and those who believe not in the Hereafter, an invisible veil (or screen their hearts, so they hear or understand it not).
Ayat 46. And We have put coverings over their hearts lest, they should understand it (the Qur'an), and in their ears deafness. And when you make mention of your Lord Alone [Lâ ilâha ill-Allah (none has the right to be worshipped but Allah) Islamic Monotheism] in the Qur'an, they turn on their backs, fleeing in extreme dislikeness.
Tafseer of Surah Al Isra' (Bani Israel) Ayat 45 & 46. When thou dost recite the Qur´an, We put, between thee and those who believe not in the Hereafter, a veil invisible: Veil invisible. Some Commentators understand mastur here as equivalent to satir. a veil that makes invisible, a thick or dark veil. But I think that the meaning of mastur (in the passive voice) as "hidden or invisible" is more consonant with the whole passage. If all nature, external and within ourselves, declares Allah's glory, those unfortunates who cut themselves off from their better nature are isolated from the true servants of Allah and the revelation of Allah, because (1) they are unfit for being in their company, and (2) because the servants of Allah and the revelation of Allah must be protected from the pain which blasphemy or rebellion must cause to their unsullied nature. The veil is none the less real even though it is invisible. 46. And We put coverings over their hearts (and minds) lest they should understand the Qur´an, and deafness into their ears: when thou dost commemorate thy Lord and Him alone in the Qur´an, they turn on their backs, fleeing (from the Truth). The invisible veil being put against the ungodly on account of their deliberate rejection of Truth. The result is that their minds are fogged so that they cannot understand and their ears are cloned so that they cannot hear. In other words, the effect of Evil become cumulative in shutting out Allah's grace.

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Usamah bin Zaid (May Allah be pleased with them) reported: Messenger of Allah
[SAWW](PBUH) said, "A man will be brought on the Day of Resurrection and will be cast into Hell, and his intestines will pour forth and he will go round them as a donkey goes round a millstone. The inmates of Hell will gather round him and say: `What has happened to you, O so-and-so? Were you not enjoining us to do good and forbidding us to do evil?' He will reply: `I was enjoining you to do good, but was not doing it myself; and I was forbidding you to do evil, but was doing it myself". [Al-Bukhari Book 04, Chapter 54, Hadith # 489].
Lesson: as mentioned above This Hadith serves a stern warning for such `Ulama', preachers and reformers of the Ummah whose own conduct is contrary to the sermons they give from the pulpit.
