Al-Quran القرأن

English Translation of Al-Quran

[55] Surah Ar-Rahman [The Most Gracious]

Ayat 39. So, on that Day no question will be asked of man or jinn as to his sin, (because they have already been known from their faces either white or black).

Ayat 40. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?

Ayat 41. The Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, sinners, etc.) will be known by their marks (black faces), and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet.

Ayat 42. Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny?

Tafseer of Surah Ar-Rahman Ayat 39. On that Day no question will be asked of man or Jinn as to his sin. This does not of course mean that they will not be called to account for their sin. They will certainly be called to account for all their deeds: 15:92-93. The meaning of this whole passage is that their personal responsibility will be enforced. But their own tongues and hands and feet will bear witness against them as to their actions: 24:24. Every man will bear marks on his person, showing his classification in the Final Account: 7:48 . After these Marks are affixed, everyone's position and status in the Final Account will be known to everyone. As to the Judge on the Throne of Judgement, He will of course know all before Judgement is set up. But to give every chance to the accused, his record will be produced and shown to him (69:19,25; 18:49), and he will be given a chance to plead (7:53), but if a sinner, he will be in confusion (28:66). 40. Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 41. (For) the sinners will be known by their Marks: and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet. By their Marks: see last note. 42. Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny?.

Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith

Hazrat Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah [SAWW](PBUH) said,  "The (Hell) Fire is surrounded with all kinds of desires and passions, while Jannah is surrounded with adversities.''

[Muslim Book 40, Chapter 01, Hadith # 6779].

Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Ar-Rahman Ayat 41. The Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, sinners, etc.) will be known by their marks (black faces), and they will be seized by their forelocks and their feet" The way to Hell is littered with these evils. When a person crosses them, it is an indication that he has entered Hell. On the other side exists a series of griefs and calamities, Islamic injunctions and obligations (the compliance with which is often irksome for man) impede his way to Jannah. When a person endures them with patience, he, in fact, overcomes those obstacles and becomes eligible for Jannah.
