[70] Surah Al-Ma'arij [The Ways of Ascent]
Ayat 40. So, swear by the Lord of all [the three hundred and sixty (360)] points of sunrise and sunset in the east and the west that surely We are Able
Ayat 41. To replace them by (others) better than them; and We are not to be outrun.
Tafseer of Surah Al-Ma'arij Ayat 40. Now I do call to witness the Lord of all points in the East and the West that We can certainly for the form of adjuration, C., 69:38, also 56:75. Here the witness placed before us by Allah is His own power and glory manifested in the splendor of sunrise and sunset at different points through the solar year. See n. Ayat 37:5. If Allah has such power in the wonderful phenomena of the rising of the sun at varying points, repeated year after year, can you not see that He can easily substitute better men than you Unbelievers and blasphemers? The transition from the singular "I" to the plural "We" may be noted. See Ayat 2:38 41. Substitute for them better (men) than they; And We are not to be defeated (in Our Plan).
Hadith الحدیث

English Translation of Hadith
Hazrat Urwah bin Amir (May Allah be pleased with him) said: When talking of omens was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) he said, "The best type of omen is the good omen.'' He added, "A Muslim should not refrain from anything because of an omen.'' He ﷺ [SAWW](PBUH) told them, "When any of you sees anything which he dislikes, he should say: `Allahuma la ya'ti bil-hasanati illa Anta, wa la yadfa`us-sayyi'ati illa Anta, wa la hawla wa la quwwata illa Bika (O Allah ! You Alone bring good things; You Alone avert evil things, and there is no might or power but in You).''
[Abu Dawud Hadith # 3919].
Lesson: as mentioned above in Surah Al-Ma'arij Ayat 40. So, swear by the Lord of all [the three hundred and sixty (360)] points of sunrise and sunset in the east and the west that surely, We are Able” 1. Tiyarah means taking omen. This applies to good as well as bad omens. Muslims are required to take good omen only. For this reason, when a Muslim resolves to do something good then a bad omen should not impede his way because he believes that it is Allah Alone who brings about everything. He should also pray to Allah for the removal of mischief.
2. When such things from which people usually take a bad omen create suspicions in one's mind, then it is Mustahabb (desirable) to recite the prayer mentioned in this Hadith. Thus, what we learn from this Hadith is that if a Muslim comes across something repulsive, he should pray to Allah for something auspicious. He should also pray to Allah for granting him the power and ability to abstain from evils.
