Salaams to all
This argument of women at Eidgah or Msajid is an old argument mainly from the Ulemah of the Indo-PAK. The question that should be asked is whether the Quran instructs us to "celebrate" Eid as we do; and whether the Nabi AS would have introduced something that is not directed in the Qur'an. If directed in the Quran then those who are actively promoting it the women issue, should please give chapter and Verse from the Qur'an. This would really help us to understand the concept better. In addition one should also provide references for the whole process of "Takbir" outside of Salah, and specifically for Eid, rather than creating aHadith, as there does not SEEM to be any reference to it, in any book of aHadith. We can use all the modern facilities like "face-book" etc as a waste if time, if we cannot prove anything from the Qur'an and depend on puerile Fiq etc.
The Qur'an is the only book of GUIDANCE. Dependency on anything outside of Qur'an...............................?
Salaams

MALDA: Fighting back convention, 1,000 women congregated at Hyderpur in Malda <http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/search?q=Malda> to offer Eid namaz <http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/topic/search?q=Eid%20namaz> on Saturday just like their male counterparts. Succeeding in breaking free from the shackles of male domination, the women gathered under the banner of Muslim Mahila Janakalyan Samity and prayed, led not by a moulvi but a woman from among them.
"We have been doing this for the last nine years. It is the first all-women prayer to be held in West Bengal. We are proud that women are coming out from behind the purdah. There were initial objections from male family members, but they have now accepted it," said Shamima Begum, who led the prayer.
It was not an easy task for Rabeya Biwi, Amina Khatun or Surama Begum. Mostly homemakers, the women had to fight all odds to step out of their homes. "It was very difficult to convince our husbands that we, too, had the right to pray," said Amina. To begin with, enlightened men of the community, who understood their need, arranged for a special prayer, exclusively for the women.
Initially, around 100 women gathered for the namaz. Soon the number swelled to 1,000.

Aah, 'aint misogynism a grand leveller? Seems fundamentalists of all persuasions can unite behind a common fear.
BOO!
PS - Aziz, your point re: takbeer has been noted. Be sure to tell people next 'Eid that you don't want to lead over the mic', ok?
