Hello everyone,

I'm interested in adding a ruler to QuPath but first I need to know if someone have already developed this feature as an addon or a plugin ?

Hi Nicolas,

The 'Line ROI' tool already kind of offers this functionality (although it previously had some issues).

In what way could / should a ruler be different?

I occasionally think of modifying the tool to make it a bit nicer (e.g. selectable by clicking on it, rather than under the 'Annotations' tab) and to have more visual options (e.g. arrowheads).  However changes involving ROIs and objects can be quite awkward since they (ideally) also need to support being saved/reloaded, without causing incompatibilities with past (or future) developments.

I suspect some people might want a more flexible way to place a measurement bar on their images for presentations or publications.  While there is a scalebar in the lower left, as far as I know we do not have much control over it's size, font, color.  Those sorts of things could be added later in ImageJ, but it might be a nice side project once you have a team to allow the modification of it through the GUI.  Similarly, the main functionality the line tool would need to do something similar would be having the length of the line in text below it.  I have never  tried to place a text box into a QuPath image.

Such modifications may also be scriptable right now... but I wouldn't even know where to start :)
