Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How long will the RDK last using an external USB battery pack?

A: The RDK typically draws 300-400 mA @ 5V.  A 5600mAh, 5V battery pack would allow the RDK to run for over 14 hours in an ideal world.  In reality you should expect about 10 hours with the previously mentioned battery.

Q: What is the RF power output of the radar?

A: Typical RF output power of the RDK is between 15 and 20 dBm.  The unlicensed ISM band (2.4-2.5 GHz) is limited to 21 dBm for CW operation.

Q: Does QM-RDKIT-K1 (Kit #1) come with L-brackets  and screws for mounting the Cantennas to our own mounting board, should we desire to do so?

A: Yes.  All kits come with L-bracket mounts for the cantennas.  However,  screws are not provided to mount the brackets to your own mounting board.  If assistance is needed in mounting the cantennas feel free to contact us.

Q: What is the range of the radar?

A: The range will vary greatly depending on the radar parameters that are set, as well as the target size.  We have successfully used the radar at ranges varying from a few inches to 300 feet.  The radar has the capability to range much further if the target provides strong signal reflections and/or additional amplifiers are used.
