Thispage of IGN's Mass Effect 2 wiki guide is all about the Zaeed: The Price of Revenge DLC Mission, including how to access and unlock it, how to recruit Zaeed, how to complete his Loyalty Mission, and how to get all the collectibles, including the Firestorm Heavy Weapon.
The original release of Zaeed: The Price of Revenge required the download of the Cerberus Network service for the game, and the Zaeed Mission was released for free as well. Since Bioware's website has been deactivated, the code to obtain the Cerberus Network must be done via your EA account.
Recruiting Zaeed is one of the simplest tasks in the game, and can be done as soon as you complete the Freedom's Progress Mission and acquire the Normandy SR-2. Set your sights for Omega in the Sahrabarik system.
At the far end of the entrance corridor will be Zaeed, railing on a Batarian. Talk to him to recruit him for your cause. Along the way you can pick up 6 Morality Points by giving Paragon or Renegade responses, depending on the options you pick. Here's your selection, grouped by Morality:
Zaeed will take up lodgings in the Port Cargo Bay down on Engineering. These are very much his quarters, so he'll have a bunch of objects to interact with and will have two stories to tell after every Mission or Side Quest you complete.
The main Loyalty Mission itself will take place on planet Zorya, which is in the Faia system of the Ismar Frontier (the Ismar Frontier is in the North-West area of the Milky Way). You'll need about 200 Fuel in order to travel to the Faia system from Aquila.
Zaeed's Loyalty Mission begins with your party touching down on the jungle border of the Eldfell-Ashland Refinery on planet Zorya. As soon as you start moving forward through the linear passage between the cliffs, you hear a radio signal from Vido Santiago, the man that Zaeed has sworn to kill, calling for a squad to investigate your landing zone.
As you move forward, you'll find some bodies that you can Investigate, which will prompt Zaeed to make a comment on Vido's brutality. Continue moving through the passageway as the radio chatter intensifies. Vido's team definitely knows you're here at this point, and you're ambushed by a squad of Blue Suns not too far ahead.
The Blue Suns Troopers and Blue Suns Heavy are heavily shielded; take them down by staying in the first position of cover you see while flushing them out of their cover spots and picking them off one-by-one. Moving up, another squad of Blue Suns will attack you - this time with a mixture of Blue Suns Troopers, Blue Suns Heavy, Blue Suns Pyro and a FENRIS Mech that can deal serious damage to you at close quarters if you aren't ready for it.
Just ahead, you'll reach a Bridge Control. Activate it, and you'll spark a dialogue between yourself and Zaeed as he gives you a rundown of why you're here. At this point, you can get some Morality Points:
Up ahead you'll enter the gatehouse and have a meeting with Vido Santiago. Zaeed goes overboard and starts a chain reaction in the refinery to try and kill his archenemy, but Vido escapes. Here you can confront him over his actions for Morality Points:
When you open the door, a refinery worker will desperately call at you for help, as they can't access the valve controls to turn off the fire. Zaeed doesn't care and has eyes only for Vido. At the outset, you can get some Morality Points:
You'll then have a big decision to make: whether to take the time to save the workers, or ignore them and head straight for Vido (kinda like Asteroid X57 in the first game!). Each option has its own path that has exclusive rewards, some of which aren't apparent until the end of the Mission:
Taking this option makes Zaeed quite upset that you aren't going after Vido immediately, but he's at least practical enough to know there's no arguing and you'd better get to it. After Shepard jumps down onto the platform below, move down the ramps and Bypass the door to get inside. Here, your path will be regularly blocked by fire, and you'll need to use Fuel Control panels to keep moving forwards. To start, move up the flight of stairs and through the door on your right.
Pass through the flames in the doorway and then activate the first Fuel Control panel to clear the ramp forwards. Cross over, then hit the second Fuel Control panel hidden away on the left, which will remove the fire blocking the next ramp. Cross over it.
Continue up the next set of stairs, and an explosion causes a metal beam to appear on the floor. Here on the right the workers will try talking to you. Heed their advice and hit the next Fuel Control panel to clear the last ramp. Move forward and up the next flight of stairs.
Once you have the Research, use the Fire Extinguisher Systems to put out the fire. Move through the door and onto the next catwalk and then jump down onto the crates. This is where the Paragon and Renegade routes meet back up.
Going directly to kill Vido will take you through a route that's almost entirely combat. As you move through this next section, you hear explosions and screams as the refinery is blown apart. Moving forward, you will need to fight another squad of Blue Suns Troopers. As you approach the walkway across the chasm, it'll be blown up by the refinery's chain reaction: you'll have to find another way across.
Move through the next door and fight the moderately large squad of Blue Suns Troopers that storm at you. Be careful to pick off the enemies on the ledge as well. Next, move through the same door they came from and up the walkway through another door. You'll now be at the other end of the split, where the Renegade and Paragon paths meet back up.
The M-451 Firestorm is a very ammo-efficient flamethrower that tears through armor, also panicking organic targets as it rapidly burns through their health. It's less effective on synthetic targets however, and its lack of splash damage means it's only practical against single targets.
In the next room on the right you'll be ambushed by two Blue Suns Troopers. Kill them! then grab the Power Cells next to the Weapons Locker. Use it if you prefer using a different Heavy Weapon to the Firestorm.
The next room is the refinery core, where you will face off against a series of Blue Suns Troopers, Pyros, Heavies, and an YMIR Mech at the very end. The best strategy is to stay in cover and have both of your Squad Mates cover the two flanks while enemies ascend up the stairs on both sides. There isn't any good spot the camp down in the middle though, so you may have to improvise.
Also on both sides of the room are two loose fuel tanks that move forward and backward in a straight line. They fall to the ground and explode when shot at enough times, causing massive area damage that you can use to flush out enemy troop clusters hiding behind cover. You'll probably want to shoot them down anyway because their downward fire streams deal significant damage. If you're playing the original release however, their explosions also hurt you and your Squad, so you'll need to be careful when dropping them (this doesn't apply to the Legendary Edition).
If you took the Renegade route, Zaeed will catch Vido before he can make it into his gunship. Vido attempts to run, but Zaeed shoots faster - nailing Vido in the kneecap and forcing him to the ground. Vido pleads for his life, and Zaeed responds by ejecting a Thermal Clip into the nearby fuel spill, causing an ignition that scorches Vido to death.
If you took the Paragon path however, things will be more complicated: Vido has enough time to escape in his gunship, and Zaeed is enraged at losing his chance to kill him. He's quickly humbled by his own hubris however, as an explosion pins him down via a steel beam. At this point, you can get some Morality Points:
Finished ME1&2 insanity now but seriously, Zaeed with Inferno Grenade which recharge in like 1 sec is just too easy for ME2. enemy who charges with armor? throw it infront of them and they run into their death, enemy camping? throw it and watch them burn to death.
I know we have tons of braggers, and I'm gonna be honest and say im not that "good" but when you have a skill like inferno grenade which you can just recharge and throw nonstop, which always hits its target/s just make Insanity a joke.
Also, I'm a huge Garrus fan, and his Overload in combination with for ex your soldier doing slow-mo and shooting down people on fire and without shield is just too awesome. Obviously Miranda with her group dmg bonus and overload+warp works just as fine... but Garrus is so cool
I need to give this a try as well. I'm stuck trying to beat Garrus' recruitment mission because he keeps dying, but this sounds like a good defensive tactic as well as a good way to destroy everyone trying to kill him.
The thing that annoys me the most are the infinite spawn points that you have to get through. I mean, if you're gonna have those, what's the point of a sniper rifle? Your allies can also be compete morons, which doesn't help... Insanity is definitely tougher in ME2 than in the first one, that's for sure.
Really the only hard part of insanity is the collectors ship where you fight all the guys on the platforms. The suicide mission is a joke, I didn't die once on insanity. By the time you get there your armor/weapons are so powerful you blow through it. The friend or foe mission is also easy. Really the toughest spots are horizon and the collectors ship because your character is so weak at that point in the game. Its just like ME1 in the sense that your character becomes so powerful its pretty much impossible to die unless you just stand there.
The grenade is serious though- it can eat away at health, stop regen and kill armor. It also has a chance for knock down which is unexpected. Usually I make Zaeed chuck one and while the person is getting up I throw one of my own, cherry on the flaming sundae.
DONE this! Lots of fun. But for Insanity, I surely suggest using Barrier or Fortification as your special skill. It works for very defensive play on Insanity, it can save your ass. Zaeed's Inferno Grenade is enough while you have your defense.
