MapmyIndia today announced the launch of its new line of Mappls Gadgets for cars and two-wheelers including advanced vehicle GPS trackers, dash cameras, in-dash Navitainment systems and Smart Helmet kits.

Paired with the free Mappls Super App, the trackers offer users the real-time location of assets or vehicles, geofencing alerts, overspeeding and undue stoppage alarms, daily distance travelled and trip replay, ignition on/off alerts, and driving behaviour, among many other features.

Mappls CarEye is a dash camera that is a comprehensive and personalised safety, tracking, telematics and surveillance system that provides real-time video visibility and insight into vehicle performance and challenging road situations. The product gives the user the opportunity to watch live video-streaming of both the front view and cabin view of their car anytime and from anywhere in the world, through the Mappls Super App.

A single unit with a dual camera, CarEye analyses driver behaviour and can detect harsh acceleration, braking, cornering, and overspeeding. CarEye can also monitor the real-time location of your car through live vehicle tracking and trip replay details on the Mappls App. Other features of CarEye include geofencing, ignition detection, and immobilisation, among many others. Mappls CarEye is priced at Rs 23,990.

In addition to safety, keeping travellers engaged and focused is also imperative. Huge traffic snarls or long driving hours tend to make mobility distracting and wasteful, which in turn can have drastic implications due to the lack of concentration on the road.

ICENAV 7464 comes in two size variants: 9 inches and 10 inches, priced at INR 37,990 and INR 38,990, respectively. This elite Android-based audio, video, offline, and online navigation system has 64 GB of internal memory, compatibility with CarPlay and Android Auto, a built-in Play Store, WiFi Hotspot, and more.

The Navitainment product line also includes ICENAV 7216, a premium Android-based audio, video, offline, and online navigation system integrated with the Mappls app and with a built-in Play Store, WiFi Hotspot, and more. This also has two size variants of 9 and 10 inches, has 16 GB internal memory, and is priced at INR 23,990 and INR 24,990, respectively.

When combined with the Mappls Super App, Navisor and Navaudio, help users transform their existing helmet into a smart one through hands-free visual LED cues and audio navigation which help the rider keep their eyes on the road and make their rides safe and hassle-free.

Navisor is a helmet mount that utilises Augmented Reality technology to provide visual navigation cues (based on Mappls App directions) to 2-wheeler riders. Developed as an alternative to distractive phone mounts, Navisor includes other features for a safer and smoother ride such as Crash Detection and SOS sensor, auto-brightness and all-weather visibility, Bluetooth 5.0 technology, a battery life of up to 12 hours, and more.

The services were available for mobile phones with internet connectivity also. These services were also provided through the MapmyIndia portal to MagicBricks.[10]

In 2010, MapmyIndia launched a GPS navigation service called Road Pilot, preloaded with Indian cities, villages and destinations.[11] The company's online maps are integrated with ISRO Satellite Imagery for detailed satellite and hybrid.[12]

In 2014, MapmyIndia launched a voice-navigation app called NaviMaps, that supported various languages spoken in India, including Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Oriya, Punjabi, Tamil and Telugu.[13]

Delhi-headquartered CE Info Systems, popularly known as MapmyIndia, is stepping up efforts to tap the market opportunity for connected vehicle devices such as GPS trackers, dashboard-mounted video recorders, as well as connected infotainment systems, which are witnessing a strong uptake in the aftermarket as tech-savvy consumers look to keep their vehicles up-to-date with the changing times.

The company has introduced a range of IoT devices under its sub-brand 'Mappls', which is positioned as a one-stop solution for connected gadgets as well as navigation services for the end consumer. The Mappls Gadgets range comprises the CarEye, a vision-based remote vehicle monitoring device that offers both vehicle inside and outside monitoring capabilities; advanced GPS trackers which can be deeply installed for vehicle theft prevention and tracking, as well as infotainment systems under its 'IceNav' brand that offer in-built navigation functionality alongside high-output music playback.

According to Rohan Verma, CEO and executive Director, MapmyIndia, "Our comprehensive product suite of the Mappls Gadgets, paired with the free-to-use Mappls mobile application, offers users complete peace of mind with relation to the safety of their loved ones and vehicles, through real-time as well as historical monitoring of vehicle GPS coordinates, and leveraging connectivity, and vision-based technologies for live surveillance."

While the CarEye dashboard-mounted, dual-facing camera system with 4G connectivity is uniquely targeted at vehicle owners who want to ensure the safety and security of their loved ones traveling by themselves or with a driver, by being able to remotely monitor the vehicle cabin, as well as the road. Additionally, the device also offers integrated vehicle immobilisation function to enhance vehicle security in terms of theft protection.

The CarEye's Live Surveillance function can be triggered in the Mappls mobile application, which also shows real-time vehicle location as well as speed. With in-built connectivity by virtue of a 4G SIM, the CarEye allows remote monitoring of the vehicle surroundings, particularly useful when it is parked in untrusted areas. The Live Surveillance capability is one of the key USPs of the device, and differentiates the product from the scores of aftermarket dashboard-mounted cameras available in the market. With on-site storage of the driving footage, the device also aids insurance companies to settle claims more accurately by bringing in a degree of transparency.

Although CarEye offers integrated tracking, and immobilisation capabilities, MapmyIndia's advanced GPS trackers which leverage its geospatial technology, offer a cost-effective solution to enhance vehicle security. The company's range of GPS trackers comes priced between Rs 4,490 and Rs 12,990, and allows consumers to seamlessly track a vehicle's real-time location on the Mappls mobile application.

The GPS trackers with an embedded SIM card can either be deeply installed in a vehicle, or be used through the OBD port to offer the freedom of multi-vehicle operability. The trackers relay real-time vehicle information to the Mappls application, which notifies geofencing alerts, over speeding and undue stoppage warnings, while also offering daily distance travelled and trip analysis, as well as ignition on/off and immobilisation functions.

With the in-car infotainment space undergoing rapid advancements with OEMs equipping their new models with faster, larger, and highly-connected infotainment devices, there is a growing demand in the aftermarket with a growing lot of consumers keen to upgrade their existing vehicles to modern-day, connected infotainment systems.
