FFXIVs newest expansion, Dawntrail, is set to arriving in summer 2024, and it's bringing with it a plethora of graphical updates. Graphics upgrades mean major changes to the system requirements necessary for PC users to ruin the game smoothly. Thus, here are the updated recommended system requirements and minimum system requirements for Final Fantasy XIV as of the Dawntrail launch.

Square Enix and Creative Business Unit 3 shared the new Final Fantasy 14 PC system requirements during the keynote at Final Fantasy Fan Festival in Las Vegas. Take a look at how the old requirements compare to the updated ones:

The updated system requirements for Final Fantasy 14 will go into effect with patch 7.0, which is set to release in summer 2024 alongside the Dawntrail expansion. It was also revealed today that Final Fantasy 14 will arrive on Xbox Series X/S in spring 2024.

The Final Fantasy requirements for PC have been updated to reflect the increase in hardware requirements as of July 2, 2024 release of Dawntrail, a major expansion to the base game. This expansion is so large that it made the original Final Fantasy XIV recommended specs the new minimum, indicating a significant overhaul of the game from the ground up.

As of July 2, 2024, you will need an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 graphics card, an Intel Core i7-7700 CPU, and 8GB of RAM to meet the new Final Fantasy 14 minimum requirements. This will only get you up and running on the lowest settings, so you might want to aim for a higher benchmark if you want to run Final Fantasy Dawntrail on your PC.

However, if you are playing the game now, you'll still be beholden to the original Final Fantasy 14 requirements. So, if you're looking to jump into the game before the Dawntrail update, you will need a minimum of an AMD Radeon R7 260X or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750 GPU, an Intel Core i5 processor of 2.4Ghz or higher, and 4GB of RAM. The original recommended specs are the same as the Dawntrail minimum requirements.

As with any expansion, the level cap will be raised by ten levels from Level90 to level 100. This will apply to all Disciple of War, Disciple of Magic,Disciple of the Hand, and Disciple of the Land jobs except for the limited jobBlue Mage. All Dawntrail main scenario content will be for levels 90 to 100 andendgame content will be for players who have finished the main scenario and areat level 100.

Along with the level cap increase and additional actions, players will see amultitude of changes to how they interact with the combat system. The mostprominent is the Action Change Setting, which allows players to individuallychoose whether or not a button with a follow-up action will change to that actionupon execution. For example, a Paladin player can choose to execute their RoyalAuthority combo using one button for the entire combo or three buttons for theentire combo. This will help condense hotbar space for button-intensive jobs.

A phial of Fantasia, purchaseable from the FFXIV Online Store, allows playersto modify the appearance of their character. With the large-scale graphicalupdate coming in Dawntrail, the developers have decided to push some long-awaitedchanges to the item. First, all players will be able to receive a freeFantasia from a low-level quest, allowing them to change their appearance oncefor free. This will ensure all players are satisfied with their character'sappearance after the change.

Second, the Fantasia will allow players to change their character's appearanceas much as they want within a 60 minute window. Previously, Fantasias werelimited to a single use, and players could not see their character in in-gameenvironments before committing to the usage. After Dawntrail, players can edittheir character as many times as they want within the window. This window onlycounts time spent in-game, meaning players have the entire 60 minutes to viewtheir character in the stunning new environments of Dawntrail.

A new in-game system to denote raid strategies and share them with fellowplayers will be introduced, creating an in-game version of popular tools such asRaidplan and Toolbox Gaming. Players will be able to depict positioning, enemyAoEs, and waymarks on the arena. By having an in-game method to share strategies, players will not have to rely on various third-party sites and guides tounderstand the various strategies with odd names the community comes up with.Rest assured, as Icy Veins will continue to provide quality guides for allendgame content.

Final Fantasy XIV's in-game systems have been criticized for not having systemsto prevent targeted harassment and stalking. The developers have made enhancedprivacy features to ensure that all players can feel safer in their onlineinteractions.

7.0 will see improvements to the blacklist feature in Final Fantasy XIV.Previously, the blacklist only removes text chat from blacklisted players. Afterthe 7.0 update, a blacklisted character's model will also be hidden and thiswill apply to all characters on that player's service account. It will be shownin duties, but their name will be displayed as "Unknown."

In addition, the Mute List feature will be added. This functions similar tothe current blacklist feature, meaning text chat from muted players will not bedisplayed. When necessary such as in duties, players can opt to temporarily seeanything muted players have written.
