What to do?

Looking at other player:

Clementine appends all select files to the playlist, starts playing the
first one if no song is playing, otherwise does nothing.

Rhythmbox plays the last song in the selection.

Banshee adds them in the queue and switches to the first song in all cases.

Exaile appends them to the play list and does nothing.

Audacious has a now playing playlist which gets replaced by the selected
songs.

One possibility: prepend to the queue, if queue isn't the source jump to
the next song/queue, if paused then unpause.
