initial scanning after install not finding all files

installed  version 4.2.1 on debian

added my music library folder and let it scan it

it found 15,537 songs (as listed at bottom on screen)

however, running bash->find for just *.mp3 files on same folder gives 17,826 files (there are some additional non-mp3 music files too)

i tried rescanning, deleting the entire thing and rescanning with no change.

i searched the git issues with no luck

i even read the docs

any suggestions to explain/troubleshoot this please ?

if anyone knows an easy way to export the list of filenames added i could diff it with my filesystem to investigate
