I have been using MiniKeepass on my iphone for years. This morning it is no longer available. When i click on the icon, i get "Unable to Install "MiniKeePass" The App is no longer available in the App Store". Options are Keep or Delete.
I've backed up my iphone via iTunes and when i view the Apps on iTunes, there are no docs there. How do i get this data back? Where is the .kdbx file?
All of my passwords are there but i can't find the backup file.
I also don't see this file in iCloud.
KeePass Touch is very similar to MiniKeePass, but that won't help you recover your KeePass file from your iPhone. For this, you will need to either find and reinstall a copy of the MiniKeePass app (which, as you know, is no longer on the App Store), or extract the file from an iTunes backup (if you have one). There are many free and low cost programs that can do this; the one that I've used in the past is CopyTrans, but a Google search should turn up many other options.
The problem was i couldn't find the kdbx file to extract. I tried using Dropbox which pulled what it found as database files but the actual kdbx couldn't be found. Once i found iPhone Backup Extractor, it was able to find this file so easily. i copied this onto StrongBox which is so easy to now use.
True, but iPhone files are firewalled in that only the app that uses them has access to them. Each app gets its own repository, and an "offloaded" app keeps that repository but deletes the app itself to save space - however, this relies on the app remaining available to re-download from the App Store when it's needed again. In this case, the OP must've not used MiniKeePass in a long time, so the app got offloaded, but when it came time to reload, the App Store no longer had it.
You can avoid similar problems in the future by turning off the Offload feature, or by keeping the "business" version of iTunes on hand and using it to keep local copies of all the apps you use. It's outdated, but it's the last version that allows you to manage iPhone apps outside of the iPhone.
A huge thank you to this forum and Mary for the instructions, i managed to recover my 8+ year old keepass db. the process worked well. Will make sure i take backups and store the db on the encrypted NAS. thank you again!!!
