If someone says they need help to quit smoking, it's a good thing. If
you're here because you need help, that means you've taken a very
important step, and that's admitting that you're willing to ask for
help. That by itself is progress!
Here are 4 tips that you can keep track of to help you with your
future with N.O.P.E. - Not One Puff Ever.
Getting through "Hell Week". The first week is by far the hardest. If
it's your first week, just know that it WILL get easier. It's just
your body getting used to the changes in chemicals in your system.
Keep healthy munchies around. Fruits and vegetables, nuts, popcorn.
This and eating more frequently (5 smaller meals a day) will help your
blood sugar.
Spoil yourself! Get more sleep, take hot baths, eat your favorite
foods, backrubs, listen to your favorite music. You'll realize there's
still plenty of your life left, even without the habit there.
Stay mobile. If you're craving or even thinking about it, get up! Walk
around, do some chores, do some exercise, do anything. Keep active
until the thoughts pass. You're having the addiction come up to you,
and this is you walking away from it. You're the one in control!
If you keep these tips in mind, it can be what you need - help to quit
smoking. The best help is not through patches, pills, or gum. It's
through support from your friends and family, and through your own
willpower. If you choose to quit, you
can!
